Vintage Christmas Look for the Hutch

Yesterday, we hosted the annual Christmas party pot luck for my husband's high school classmates who live in the Atlanta area.
The school colors are red and gold, and that makes it easy to decorate.
I always use, red, green, gold and silver in my decorations...I'm such a traditional gal.

We had so much fun, and would you believe, I didn't get a single photo of all the wonderful dishes everyone brought?

But, here is the hutch in the breakfast room where we served the food.

Earlier in the year, I found the red and white transferware, and wanted to use that in my decorations for Christmas.

I gathered some vintage decorations...and some new ones, that have a vintage look.

On the top shelf, I used fresh greens in a silver vase and julep cups... and added apple picks to the tea cups for a bit more red.

In the center section, I used a vintage-looking Santa...

...and bottle brush trees and a tiny angel. I bought the trees at two different stores. I couldn't believe that they looked so much alike!

On the right side, is a little Knecht Ruprecht figure I bought when we lived in Germany.
He carries switches for naughty children, and has an opening in his robe to hold candy for those who've been good.
The  little metal Putz sheep was found in a local shop. He's so funny with his rose colored "wool".

On the left, is a Putz house and more bottle brush trees. Can you tell? I really love bottle brush trees. Next year I hope to find some older ones to add to my collection.

.

Love the snow on the roof and tree.

On the bottom, two more silver vases hold tiny poinsettias that I found at Home Depot. Just the perfect size.

Here are a few more photos from around the room.

Plates and napkins...

...more plates and napkins...

...another silver vase with fresh greens and a hedge apple for a simple centerpiece. After all, it's about the food! Yum!

Two red candle holders and a pale gold runner, and we were ready for our guests.

I'm  looking forward to seeing everyone's Christmas decorations and partying with...

Babs, I love all your vintage decorations mixed with the red and white dishes. I am doing vintage things this year, too. I found vintage bottle brush trees at QOH in Buford.

Babs, I love the red transferware. It is so beautiful in your hutch. The silver cups with the tiny pointsettias are so festive and I love the hedge apple. It is the new Christmas green. I never knew what a hedge apple til you posted about them. Everything looks wonderful especially the little Knecht Ruprecht. I hope he gives you candy.
Did you hubby go to Southwest High School? That's where I went to school and our colors were red and gold. I keep up with my classmates through a facebook group.
Have a great week. Ginger

Gorgeous, Babs! I love both the plates in the hutch AND those red-rimmed ones for your meal. I have been looking for just the right red-rimmed ones, and those fill the bill! :-) I have promised myself that I wouldn't buy anything else for awhile, though. Dumb promise! ;-) The hutch looks fantastic!!!
