This and That

I hope y'all are getting ready for a great weekend. We're under tornado warnings for most of the night. I can't tell you how much I hate tornado season.
All of you in the storm areas please stay safe.
While I'm sitting here watching the weather reports, I'll show you a few thrift  things I recently found, and one or two other things in the yard.

This little sweetie came home with me even though she's a wee bit damaged. Someone must have loved her enough to repair her and...she was a bargain, so I don't mind too much.

Would you believe this lantern was only $5.00?
It's 29 inches tall, so I'll use it outside. Since it's faded on two sides, it'll probably get a new coat of paint.
Now, to decide what color to paint it. Anyone have a suggestion?

I picked up this little oil painting at GW today, and just had to show you.
It really looks more like Fall than Spring, so I think I'll put it away till then.

Y'all probably remember the poinsettias that Hubby took out to the shed...

...here they are.
Please excuse the shed. It needs to be cleaned up, but  do you see the baskets in the chair? Look closer...

...it's one of the feral cats.  They love baskets and...

...bird's nests?   :)
No, these are grapevine wreaths, which I laid on the deck chair for a few minutes, and a "cat bird" found them.

This "cat bird's" name is Baker. She's the oldest of our ferals, 10+ years old and not that "feral" anymore, as you can see.
It looks like most of the storms have passed...for the moment. Y'all take care and have a great weekend.
I just checked the storm alert, and it looks like another storm is on the way...guess we'll be staying up a little while longer. Did I say how much I hate tornado season?

Hugs,
Babs

Your lantern is quite the find! I can't wait to see what color you choose. It was a scary night, wasn't it? I'm not sure what part of Georgia you're in, but here in Newnan we missed all the bad stuff and just had a lot of rain and lightning, thank goodness!

Great finds Babs! I don't think we have feral cats around here, they would freeze to death in the winter!

Wonderful finds, Babs!

Some of our kids are on the road, from Gulf Shores. They stayed in S. TN with relatives overnight and will continue home today. I've been so worried about them, but got word yesterday evening they are okay.

We are on the hunt for a NOAA radio, after living all our lives in Missouri and knowing these storms come every late winter, early spring. I don't know why we didn't pick one up over the winter. Cannot find a radio...they are selling as quickly as they arrive in stores. Until we find one, I will keep the weather channel on during the night. As long as the electric doesn't go out we can get warnings from there.
The sirens are just down the road from us.

The weather yesterday was terrifying. I am so glad you are OK. It just breaks my heart seeing those people with devastation all around them. I do love your shed...the red chairs are fabulous. Great idea to have the decking as sort of a porch. I have concrete blocks. :o)

Love the little oil painting. I would use it somewhere. It is for anytime. Cute kitties laying in the basket and wreath. We went under the house last night. That was scary and then nothing!

Darling post Babs ~~ well except for the tornado threats.

Your lantern is GREAT! I sort of like the barn red color it is. Maybe just a fresh coat of the same. Being a cat lover, I adored seeing the kitty pictures. Precious. How lucky you are to have that darling shed. Fun!

That was pretty intense last night, wasn't it? Glad we were spared. I feel bad for those in the other couties that were hit though. My husband had his phone set to go off if there was a tornado warning in our area while we slept. I hate when these storms come at night! I can't get over those cats sleeping in your wreath and baskets. TOO FUNNY! Btw, I love that little oil painting. You should keep it out year round. I wouldn't care about the colors being a different season. As long as it matches your decor, USE it! I love it! I think you should paint your lantern black and put a white candle in it. Then you can burn it at night while sitting on your back deck.

Love the kitty in the wreath, soaking up the sun. I have lanterns like this in my shop, they are $39.00. No wonder I have not sold them. Richard from My Old Historic House.

These storms are terrible Babs, I feel so sorry for all those that were hit with them. Glad you guys are safe! You have some great finds! LOVE that painting!! I say keep it out it's way to pretty to put away and what a deal you got on that lantern!! I say paint it red for a pop of color. I think it would look great with your black patio furniture.

For heaven's sake...please stay safe! I got up this morning and watched the news of all the horrible devastation from last night. Just awful! Along with an apparent early Spring, tornado season has also started early this year. NOT good!!! I'm always the first one heading to the basement!!! I guess I'd better make room in the closet under the stairs again. I store stuff in there during the "off season" when I don't have to worry about tornadoes and having to take cover there. NEAT finds!!! You always find the cutest stuff!!!!!

Oh I so hope you are all safe and out of the area of all the tornadoes. They scare me to death. When we lived in Colorado we use to get them. I even like the earthquakes in Calif. better. Take care and be safe. The new finds are wonderful and I am just amazed at the cat in the nest. You would think that would be so uncomfortable. Hugs, Marty

Hi Babs!
I love your lantern! You can always put black on it, then gently sand off some of the black so the old red shows through? It's pretty darn nice and for $5 it's really darn nice!!
Your cute statue is so sweet! Cute how the cat got inside the wreath to lay. They do love to curl up.

Hi Babs, We dodged tornados all week too. I was thankful we didn't have any damage from all the storms. Love all your finds, the lantern is a steal. I'm seeing a lot of different colors for spring. I would say go for a color now, you can always paint it black in the fall. I love all those dear cats! How sweet they love your grapevines, cat birds indeed! Have a great week with the nice weather forecast.
