Kids' Thanksgiving Table

Our grands will be here for Thanksgiving, so I've been working on a tablescape for them. I'm using the kitchen table to practice a place setting, since we won't set up the little table till Turkey Day.

I'm using brown craft paper for placemats and crayons for coloring...and I found these cute melamine "Give Thanks" plates at World Market.

Little log cabins, with removable lids, will be used to hold...

...snack mix. I lined them with brown paper to hold the snack mix, and added a bit of fiberfill for the smoke.

The snack mix is made with pretzels, gold fish crackers, fruit chewies and a few M&M peanuts...left over from Halloween. :)
Hey, this is just a practice tablescape...I'll get fresh candies later.

The little evergreen trees and cabins, hopefully, are reminders of the setting for the first Thanksgiving.

I also filled a small turkey tureen...

...with additional snack mix. I added some round multi-grain cereal and a few snack crackers to this one.

One tablescape down, and one to go.
Now, I just have to decide what to do for the adults, so, as always, I'll be visiting y'all for some great inspiration!
I only have a few days to pull it all together. Once the grands are here, I'll be in flat out "GrandBabs mode".
Hugs,
Babs

GrandBabs! Cute table. Love the idea of the little log cabins and the crayons to color on the placemats. The "Give Thanks" plates are perfect. Look how the stack of crayons picks up the border on these darling plates. Aren't you the cleverest! ~ Sarah

what a great idea! Hope you don't mind me using it also for my 3 grands that are 10 and under. I think I'll tell them to write on the paper what they are thankful for and then draw it and color it.
Thanks so much for posting this, love it!

That is one adorable table! I love the little brown cabin, I think I have one very similar. I was thinking of using it for a Christmas vignette, a little woodsy feel to it. Such a great idea to use the craft paper for the kids to entertain themselves! And what a surprise to store some goodies in the turkey and cabin! I want to sit there!

Hi, Babs! I think it's wonderful that you are putting a lot of effort into the little kids' table! It really does take forethought to create something special for them that will keep them occupied, be age-specific, be safe, and cater to their young needs and fancies. The plates are really cute, and I love the idea of the little log cabins and trees!!! Good luck as you move forward on the adult table!

Babs,
Oh!!! To be a child, again!
We never had a "Kid's Table" when I was growing up. You had to dress in your scratching petticoat, ruffled anklets, patten buckle shoes, dressy dress, hair combed...and sit STILL, no elbows on the table, say Please and Thank You and ask for the food to be passed.
I think your grands are going to love this table!!!
Fondly,
Pat
