Hi Everyone,
Hope y'all are having a great weekend. In my last post, I promised I'd show you where we had lunch the day we went antiquing.
The little sandwich shop was recommended by the antique mall owner, and she assured us the food would be "home made" and good.
We sat at a table next to a couple from NJ, who had been antiquing at the same mall. We started talking, and I was stuffing my mouth with a huge pimento cheese sandwich...sorry no photo...it was delicious. :) Hubby had a bowl of chili.
Checking out the decor...here are a few pics of "found objects" on the wall...
...a framed vintage pillow cover with roses and Air Force insignia...
...an old radio, fireplace shovel, photos of family members and local residents...
...some of the table styles were very eclectic...notice the three layers of table covers on this one...not sure what that pink ribbon is for on the chair...
...a gnarled walking stick, and a flag sign used to hold teacups...
...and a high chair for the little ones.
For the "big ones" a big banana split...and a chocolate dipped strawberry. Hubby and I shared the banana split. Yum!
Well, after the sandwich, a big glass of iced tea, and the banana split, I was almost rolling out the door.
.
As we left, I noticed a sign painted on an old saw above the door, which said..."Y'all come back now, ya hear!"
I really like eating at local "mom and pop" places. The decor may have been a little unusual, but the food was awesome. Just good ol' soups, salads, sandwiches and ice cream.
We'll go back there again. I hear their chicken salad is "the best".
Hugs,
Babs

Sounds like a fun day trip complete with a delicious lunch. I like the lattice work on the bamboo table.
I prefer hometown eating over any chain anytime. The table was like my MIL has in her kitchen!
Looks like a fun day. We do that too sometimes; have a "date day". I love it. This winter we have not done it though, it has been TOO COLD!!! XO, pinky
Sounds like a fun day and my kind of place!
Aren't those places just wonderful and full of character-my motto is ask the person in the shop or on the street where they eat and it's usually fantastic.
have a good week.
Such a charming place...looks like a fun day! I love your header, too! Thanks so much for stopping by my cabinet post!
My kind of place! My girls and I are going out for lunch tomorrow. I think I will suggest the mom and pop place!
Very eclectic but also ver fun decor.
I love little places like that too. Looks like such a cute place and fun decor too. Hugs, Marty
Looks like a neat place to eat. I like to go to little places like that too because it's usually such a great experience. That banana split looked good. I haven't had one of those in years!
I love places with food like that. I especially love chicken salad.
Babs,
Unique interior design...but good food, honest people and great service is hard to come by these days!!! Sounds like you and husband had a GREAT time!!!
Fondly,
Pat
PERFECT place to sit down for a while to catch your breath and slam back some good home cooking!!! I was already hungry before I read this, but now I'm craving chili! It's a cold, blustery day today, and that would hit the spot even though I've been nowhere near an antique today! (Except looking at myself in the mirror! :-) )
Sounds like a wonderful place to eat after a great day of antiquing!!...
That place is just so dreamy! Im all over that old stop sign! :)
Hugs,
Sounds like a nice day for an outing with your husband. I also like to support Mom & Pops's restaurants....Sounds like a real home cooking kind of place.
I adore places like this. Little tiny tables and lots to look at. What a lovely day!
What a cute and fun place to go! Dan loves banana splits! He would eat that all by himself! I enjoy days like that!
I agree, mom & pop places are the best! Must say that dessert looks YUMMY!
:)
