Sorry I don't have a "before" photo of the room but, believe me, it wasn't anything you'd probably want to see anyway.
Since the room is visible from the downstairs hallway and family room, I gently suggested that maybe it could look a little bit better.
Hubby agreed and accepted the challenge to decorate it on a budget. He did all the decorating himself with only a couple of small suggestions from me. After all, it is his room.
Working mostly with what we had, this is now "the music room".

Ta Da!
Most of the electronic equipment was black, so I suggested red accents... which we had lots of anyway.
Our son did this painting as an art project when he was in college. It's quite large and needed to stay here since there was no other place to hang it.
Fortunately, it has black and red in it.
Hubby's beloved resophonic guitars.
Hubby made this long table for a music stand.
He bought frames at Michael's to showcase some of his old albums and 45s.
This bookscase holds a tv to view instructional videos and other electronic equipment.
He used two office chairs that could be moved or swiveled for use when he has other guitar players visiting.
The couch is for the audience . lol
Hubby's accordian from 5th grade.
He doesn't play that anymore, for which I'm thankful. :)
His little table top vignette. The red square table used to be the base for our Christmas tree. Hubby made that, too.
The bookcase on the right houses his CDs, old running trophies and little mementos.
In all, I think he spent about $100, mostly for the frames and wood for his music stand. We already had everything else.
Believe it or not, this is the way it looks ALL the time. I don't move anything or clean in there!
He does that all himself.
Hubby's a neat guy, in more ways that one. lol
What do you think? Did he do ok?
Hubby and I will be joining these great parties below:
Kim @ Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesday
and with Sherry @ No Minimalist Here for Open House Thursdays.
See you there and thanks for stopping by. It's always great to see you.

This is a great room, Babs! Hubby did a wonderful job at doing a nice job and keeping it under budget! I also love that he is such a 'neat' guy!
XO,
Jane
OMG, Babs! I love your hubby's music room!, so nice he's got the musical hobby and entertaining, that'll give him GOOD health... music does!! Your son's picture looks wonderful in it, it's a young man's music room. Love it!
Have a nice week.

If mine had a room it would be a catch all like every one of his spots where he dumps. He is not neat. You are lucky. I love the art work your son did. He is good! That makes such a statement in there.
What a great job he did! Like the rug, posters, and especially his accordian! How funny and cute.

Babs, I'm impressed! The room is great. Love the large painting by your son. He is very talented. It looks great in this space, and what a clever idea to frame the records and album covers. My husband has done his own office. It's his space. Not bad actually. LOL

This room is fabulous Babs.
The art piece is beautiful.
I got the pitcher at Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta a month ago and the stool up in the mountains.
Hey Babs...you should be so proud of your husband. This is a great room! My husband fixed up our basement several years ago but he doesn't go down there much anymore. It's nice to have a room for just him! Have a great week...~Ann
Wow, Babs - I love the music room. It has so many wonderful touches....love original art by your son and the framed records - really nice! Linda
Wow! This is a great room. Yes, I would say he did more than okay and how fabulous he takes care of it himself. He really IS into his music! Keeps him busy and that's a good thing. :)

Your husband is incredibly talented! He is so multi-faceted! Without even seeing a "before" photo, I can see you did a wonderful job on the room. It will be a joy for many years to come!!!
Very nice music room! Your hubbs done good! *winks* I love the framed records! What a great idea! Vanna
I am so impressed!! The black and red is great combination with all the cream color. What sort of music does your husband play?
Really a successful project.

Nice! Your son is SUPER talented! I totally thought that was a touched up photo! My dad's also a musician and I think wishes his music room was this big.
Definitely gets the "wow" factor. And I love the mounted albums and records. And your son is very talented too. :)
My Husband is working on a "Computer room Man Cave" but on a much smaller (room) scale. He also collectes (UGH) firetrucks...but who am I to complain with all the "stuff" I collect! I just don't want it all over the house!
I ADORE the painting your son did...OMGoodness it is beautiful!
Babs! Great room, and the painting is VERY cool! I wanted to answer your question about seat caning, but you don't have an e-mail address linked up...so here goes. I cut off the excess caning before I put the spline in. I just use a utility knife, and cut right below the edge of the groove. After you pound the spline in, there's nothing left to stick out! Thanks for stopping by Red Hen Home!
Babs, I would say you have one talented family. We have already seen your talents, and they are many, at decorating. You son is obviously extremely talented and now hubby. The room is so attractive but is functional as well. He is decorating for the masculine soul and to also be neat and tidy. He is doubly blessed with talent.
My Bob is a precious soul but not a fashion bone in his body.

Hey Babs...I finally heard back from the girls At The Picket Fence. They must have overlooked my email and just saw it...they want to know if you still need help with your blog. It looks great to me but let me know.
Also...I just realized that your blog isn't connected to your email. For example, when you comment on my blog I get an email notice. When I open that email I can't reply to you. My response would go to a No Reply Blogger address somewhere. If you want to fix it go to your Dashboard. Under Settings click on Comments. Scroll down to where it says Comment Notification Email. Put your email address in the box and click save at the bottom of the page.
Let me know if you have any questions for the Picket Fence girls...they just posted today on photo editing. It was incredible. I struggle with my camera skills and will take all the help I can get!

Way to go, Hubby! My husband is also a musician...and my daughter, too. Dealing with all those instruments is an art form. Thank you for stopping by my post. When you go look at tablecloths on eBay, do a search for Zina
Vasi, Williams Sonoma tablecloths, and enter specific for others that you might be researching. I keep a sVed search going for round tablecloths. Happy bidding! Hopefully we won't be bidding against each other. Cherry Kay

Babs,
Hubby did a fine job! I adore the huge painting your son did...very talented! My dad, his brothers, MY brother were all guitar musicians. I grew up on bluegrass! (My music of choice is Classic!)I now have two of dads string instruments in our home office. What a wonderful way to showcase your family's interest! The red accents are stunning!
