I've been so busy playing with lamps that time got away from me...story of my life!
This morning, I got busy and worked on the entry.
Y'all know how I love to decorate with natural elements and tartan, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so of course, I started with tartan.
It actually was a skirt in it's former life. I found it at GW, cut it apart and made a square and two scarf like pieces. I arranged the two pieces on the basket to look like a long scarf.
I tucked the antlers, tartan, some faux leaves and a little picture in a basket to hang on the stair railing...and added a horse brass.
This one has a little acorn on it.
These little terriers are so sweet.
The caption on the print says, "There's no place like home."
I put a pheasant figure, a turkey plate and a wire basket with oranges and pinecones on the chest.
I've been drying orange slices and making orange pomanders. This is a Fall project I've done for as long as I can remember. I need to buy more oranges. I couldn't find smallish ones, and had to take these monsters. They actually are almost the size of grapefruits.
I hope you're ahead of me in getting ready for Thanksgiving.
Soon the kids will be here, and we'll all be together for Thanksgiving.
I've left the light on for them.
There's no place like home...for Thanksgiving.
Thanks for stopping by.

Everything looks so pretty, Babs! I love the Scottish basket! We used to make orange pomanders for Christmas when I was little. They smell wonderful! Have a great week!...hugs...Debbie
I know what you mean about the large oranges. All the ones I've seen are huge, but they are tasty! Love that basket decoration.
Unfortunately, Babs, you and I are rowing the same boat on this one! I have been sick the last 2 weeks and unable to do anything! I am so far behind on the cleaning and shopping and planning and cooking and decorating....I have no idea how I'm going to have everything ready in time for Thansgiving day! You appear to be further along than I am. I LOVE the arrangement on the chest by the steps!!!!
Babs, I love the basket filled with leaves, tartan, doggies and antlers. Love the brass piece. Great vignette. I am trying to figure out my tables and food since I am having all my family here this year minus my son and family. They will be here for Christmas.
Hi Babs! Oh, your arrangement is gorgeous! What a beautiful area you've created and I know your family will love it!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Lovely vignette, Babs. I can almost smell the cloves and oranges...
So pretty and I love how you repurposed a skirt! Great idea.
Please come by on Tuesday and link up to the everything Thanksgiving linky party. I'd love for you to join in!
Your entry looks so warm and inviting for Thanksgiving! I love everything you've done. I especially like how you styled that basket. Everything in it goes so well together and sort of tells a story. I have made those pomanders before. They can be hard on your fingers! Ha! They smell good though. Love that pheasant figurine too. I'll be visiting Kim (right down the road from you) with my family on Thanksgiving.
Babs,
NO...I'm NOT ready for Thanksgiving yet!!! I did do some grocery shopping today, though! Your entry says, "Welcome Home" with all the warm hues! I adore all the natural elements...even the grapefruit size oranges. What a sweet, comforting aroma they must give to your entry! I know, just in the nic of time...I'll be ready! Thanks for the inspiration that HOME and FAMILY are the reason for celebration!
Fondly,
Pat
Hi Babs, this is so gorgeous. Love the natural elements, and I'm a tartan lover too! So this is just my cup of tea! xo
It's so lovely, warm and inviting, Babs! And no, I'm not really ready...I can't believe the holiday is so close at hand!!
Babs your entry looks so pretty and welcoming! I love the vignette you created and that basket looks fabulous! Martina
Babs, beautiful!!! And I love the tartan plaid! I had been looking at some photos in an English country house, and they had used a dark blue tartan for the window panels. I fell in love!! I"m just not sure I could find fabric like that for mine. Your vignettes are just beautiful. I cannot wait to see your box! Ours had to be made to fit the table too, so I think I will use it a lot. Thanks for stopping by!!
How beautiful, warm and inviting! I love all the detail you put into your Thanksgiving decor.
Absolutely beautiful- I even took some notes :) Loved it!!!
Babs, your decor looks like a magazine. Love the chest decor. I am on the lookout for a pheasant cousin of yours. The little scotties pic is adorable in the basket. Love your idea of the skirt for coming up with material.
Your house looks so wonderful, and I can SMELL it. The cloves and oranges are a favorite fall and Christmas scent of mine. I love it.
You have such excellent taste!
Beautiful! I love what you did with the basket and with the table top...so simple and yet gorgeous!

A most lovely and inviting foyer! I imagine the oranges fill the whole area with a wonderful fragrance.
You're making me want to run out and buy some cloves and oranges right now. I haven't made them since I was in Brownies (just a few years ago), but I can remember that smell!
Oh Babs the basket is just beautiful, love the basket too with the orange pomanders. Everything looks so pretty. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Not only is your basket very pretty, Babs, but I really like that you hung it from the banister--an unusual idea that works really well. And your basket with orange pomanders is very nice...hummmm, maybe I need some oranges RIGHT NOW to get busy! Thanks for sharing this pretty vignette. I love your two closing comments--leaving the light on for them, and no place like home. Happy gathering at your home!
Babs, Your entry looks lovely. I love all the natural elements. I wouldn't have thought to get the tartan from GW. You are so smart.
Bob and I are alone the Thanksgiving but we will be in Tenn for Christmas and Illinois for New Year. I will settle for that.
Enjoy your sweet family and have a great Thanksgiving.
Blessings,
Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a nice comment! Your Thanksgiving decor is beautiful and elegant. I love the basket hanging on the stair railing.
I'm following you now.
Smiles,
Carol
What a wonderful Thanksgiving entry, Babs! Your family will feel the warmth as soon as they come home. Love your pheasant, turkey plate and the pomanders ... all gorgeous textures.
Babs~ I adore the basket arrangement that you've created on your stairs! The print of the terriers is so sweet & how clever to re-purpose a skirt from GW into a scarf! I can just smell your basket of clove studded oranges too :)
You did an exquisite job decorating for your family. I know you can;t wait until they arrive. I forgot about the oranges - I used to do that too. sandie
Both of your vignettes are stunning. I love the basket on the stairs, using the plaid is such a great idea and so pretty. The pheasant, plate and wire basket are stunning for the chest. Such a lovely and inviting vignette. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, marty
Babs, it looks like you are ready. Your entry looks gorgeous! You know I love the tartan touches and the fall colors. I haven't made pomanders in years. I think I'll do that for Christmas. ;-)
