This morning before it got too hot, we worked in the shed again, throwing out junk, old flower pots, dried up paint brushes, empty spray paint cans... you know what I'm talking about. :) At least I hope I'm not the only one with a shed full of junk. lol
After that I deadheaded and fed the roses and then thought I'd try to do something with the Baker's rack on the deck.
I want to use it for pots of kitchen herbs.
It'll really be convenient since it's just outside the kitchen door.
Here's how it finally turned out...for a while.
On the left of the rack is my old Rosemary bush and on the right, a pot of Basil.
As you see I don't have a lot of herbs yet, so I thought I'd fill in with things I had found a Goodwill.
No, I didn't get the wine bottle at GW, :) just the bowl with the lemons on it. I put sweet mint in it. Love the fragrance of that mint and I'll use it a lot in iced tea.
The hamper on the bottom shelf came from GW also. Remember it from the Highland post? I bought the white Lantana last week. This is the first white one I've ever seen and I hope it does as well as the gold.
This cute copper colored tub with bees on it followed me home from GW this week.
I can't decide whether to use the basket or the tub for the bottom shelf. What do you think?
So I actually only have three herbs on the rack. There's Lemon Thyme on the top left and the faux lemons in the jar are from GW.
That scrawny little thing in the middle is a Rosemary twig I'm trying to make into a topiary.
All right, you can stop laughing now.
. Looking at the size of it.. it may take a while. I have two of them that I rooted from the big pot so we'll see what happens.
The only other thing I did today was to clean off the hutch in the breakfast area.
My gardenia bushes have just started blooming and...
...I just had to bring some in the house.
Here's the hutch all clean for a while. The little round Tole tray on the top is new. I got it this week at the antique mall. The other one I've had for a while.
Love those gardenias.
So I'm off to the garden center tomorrow to look for more herbs. I'll probably put them all in clay pots...or maybe not. The small pots dry out so badly that I put mini bark nuggets in them to help, plus it looks nice too, I think.
I hope this counts as a "tabletop" because I'm happy to be joining Marty@ A Stroll Thru Life for
See y'all there.
Babs
The bakers rack is wonderful and I love the display you arranged. The basket and the tub are both fabulous, so I couldn't decide which one to use. I love the jar of lemons and the other things you've incorporated in the display. Your hutch is lovely. I really like the plate rack in the center and the gardenias are wonderful. I know the smell has to be heavenly. This definitely qualifies for TTT and I am so thrilled you will be linking up. Thanks. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteBabs, it was awfully hot wasn't it. Just too fast to go from cool to hot. I like both the basket and the pot, but believe I like the basket better. The copper pot needs more plants in it. Such a nice and neat deck. I am getting ready to work on mine in this heat!
ReplyDeleteBabs, this all looks really nice. Love the basket with the white lantana. And those gardenias are gorgeous. My gardenia has stopped blooming. Oh, but they smell so good while they last!
ReplyDeleteSorry you've already had the hot temps too. I agree, it's too early. ~ Sarah
I LOVE this, Babs..it looks fantastic. I want to raise a few herbs, too, so I need to find a cute rack like this.
ReplyDeletehugs, bj
It looks fabulous, Babs! I love the copper pot and the one with lemons...great GW finds! How fun to have herbs right outside your kitchen! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie

ReplyDeleteYour baker's rack looks great! Best of luck with the topiary, that's a fun project. I can't wait to see the progress:@)
ReplyDeleteI love both the baker's rack and the hutch. You have a great eye. You also make me want to head to the potting shed and find containers for lantana because I've only seen it as a ground cover, and it looks wonderful in a tub.
ReplyDeleteYour bakers rack looks great. Love the basil and rosemary....wonderful to have outside the kitchen door when cooking!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a marvelous job with the bakers rack...it's a nice combination of plants and pretty treasures. I have one on my patio, too and I haven't started working on it yet. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteXO,

ReplyDeleteI love your herb garden rack! What a clever idea...we are moving in a few weeks and I might just have to use the same idea in our new back yard...I'll have a much better patio with lots more space...You're giving me some great ideas!
ReplyDeleteHi Babs! I want to shop at your Goodwill!! The lemon bowl is beautiful! We are quite cold up here. I am wearing a fleece sweater while blogging! I hope your warm weather goes away as I will be in Florida in a few days. And I would love to be smelling those gardenias. Linda
ReplyDeleteWow, it's hot where you are! The baker's rack looks lovely! I think herbs are charming grown like that! Thanks so much for stopping by, and for your nice comment about my table!

ReplyDeleteI may have already mentioned how much I love your backers rack, it looks so appealing, although I had no idea that is what they are. I have two of these one on the front porch and one indoors. Look out for the outdoor one in my monthly gardening post at the end of the month!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Babs I can't believe how big your rosemary and basil are! They look absolutely beautiful in those big pots. The baker's rack is perfect outside...I don't think I ever would have thought of that. Great idea! I loved seeing more of your house too. The hutch is so fun. Anything with a plate rack is a winner with me! Have a great rest of the week...~Ann
ReplyDeleteHi Babs, how I love your baker's rack and the way you've filled it with wonderful things! Wow you have found such lovely things at GW ... (our local one is disappointing.)
ReplyDeleteThe lemon planter is adorable ~ my gosh, I've never seen white lantana either; I'm going to have to look for that at the nursery. Your gardenia is gorgeous, I never tire of that fragrance.
I'd gladly send you some cooler Oregon weather in exchange for more sunshine and warmth ~ our Rhodies have not even begun to bloom yet! Very, very late this year due to the iffy weather.
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts regarding 'Cinnie', they mean a lot to us. Thankfully, she's even showing a little improvement!
I hope you're having a wonderful day. xo
Babs, Like how you've filled up your baker's rack with different items. I love that metal bee beverage holder and the wicker hamper. Both versions turned out great. I wish I had a porch or a deck to place things on. I'm kinda under construction right now and the yard looks as if a bomb went off! LOL :-) Sue
