I don't know what's going on in my head.
I should be thinking about decorating for Thanksgiving, and here I am fooling around with lamps!
Last post, you saw the new table lamp I bought.
This time, wanting to switch things up a bit, I decided I didn't want matching table lamps.
Hubby asked me what I thought about using the floor lamp from his music room.
It was one my mom had for many years, and it worked well except...
it was a brassy colored metal, and I wanted a dark lamp that would work with the new one.
Immediately, I thought of...ORB!!
It was a gorgeous day, so Hubby dragged the lamp outside, and taped the cord and sockets.
After a coat of primer and three coats of ORB, it looked pretty good.
Now, I'm happy...for the time being. Although the table looks a little bare without a lamp, I'm sure I can find something to put on it.
One other change I made, was to switch out the tray and big red apple, with a plant and metal pumpkins...I know, I'm still in that metal mode thing.
The pumpkins had been a flat brown color when I bought them, so I sprayed them with Hammered Copper spray paint. At least they look a bit more pumpkin-y.
I'm on my way to look at everyone's new posts for some Thanksgiving inspiration.
I've somehow gotten off track and started thinking about Christmas and buying Christmas gifts.
It's all Wal-Mart's fault. I went in to buy the primer, and the music playing was "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas"!!
Why can't they play "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come"?
Well, I know y'all will get me back on the right track for Thanksgiving.
Hugs,
Babs

Oh, yes, thank you! Why have we dropped Thanksgiving?
I blogged a minor rant about this very thing, here
You are so right! I shop at Walmart all the time (that's my grocery store) and they have Christmas music playing! The nerve of them. Guess it's working huh? I really like your lamp makeover. I've done that before. I liked the shape of the lamp, but not the color. Isn't spray paint wonderful?!
What a great job on the lamp. I have slowly been replacing some of my brass fixtures with ORB. It's amazing how well they all take the spray paint. Instant update. I liked the apple you had on the table before but the pumpkins looks smashing too. I was at Walmart the other night. The Christmas stuff was everywhere and I thought why not? so I bought wrapping paper and tissue paper. So I'm no help when it comes to Thanksgiving inspiration! Have a really good weekend...
Babs,
I'd say you're on the RIGHT track with changing the color of your lamp!!! Gorgeous! What a transformation!!! I'm sure you'll have a beautiful Thanksgiving...some of us bloggers work our best under pressure!!!
Fondly,
Pat
What a difference! I love the ORB! Great choice!!!!!! I have a couple of lamps that would benefit from a good spray too!
Yvonne
ORB is so wonderful. It can transform anything. Love he way it turned out. The pumpkins look good on the table and you can leave that red apple on you door step. I will be by at 3:00am to fetch it. Hugs, Ginger
Great update, the lamp looks so pretty. The pumpkins turned out great too. I am with you - yets quite rushing the holidays. Each one should be enjoyed.
Love the lamp and the look of the hammered copper. Beautiful job!
Great job Babs! You are right funny we are thinking lamps:) I am pretty sure I am following you and will double check when the google friend will let me. Thanks for following along with me as well.
I just love Oil Rubbed Bronze - I used it this week to create a bird feeder! Also, in my A Return to Loveliness post I quoted, "Come Ye Thankful People, Come"!~ So cool! I hope you're enjoying this beautiful fall day!
Kathy
(smile) I get off track too. Your lamp looks great in the new black color. What would we do without spray paint!
Even Goodwill has all their Christmas stuff out. I like the "new" floor lamp. I had and old brass-ish one that I painted too. It changes the whole look of them.
This was a great post, and I literally giggled out loud at the end about the music at Wally World.
I have a floor lamp that I've been considering instead of a table one. It's also brass and I wanted to paint it. I'm so glad you did this because I love your result.
Ok Babs, it's official, I am following. Have a great weekend.
I'm really liking those copper pumpkins. They look very rustic! andrea@townandprairie
You did some nice work there - love the copper pumpkins. sandie
The lamp looks beautiful, Babs! What a difference some paint can make! I NEED to start thinking about Christmas, but can't get past fall! Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
