I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Thank y'all so much for all your sweet comments in wishing my back to be better...they worked!!
We had a house full of family...six adults and 3 little boys. The baby was teething and wanted to be held a lot, which was ok by me. My sweet DIL did all the cooking for Thanksgiving dinner while I watched the kids...not that the 3 1/2 year old needed watching. He so good and doesn't bother anything, so my job was easy.
Son, DIL and grands left early Sunday morning. We had an extended family party to attend that night.
So yesterday morning, I hit the ground running.
It poured rain all day, and we didn't get the wreaths up or any outside decorating done. As a matter of fact, the pumpkins are still by the front steps, but they will be gone today..
On top of all that, we're having a party at our house on Saturday, and I'm running about two days late with my decorating.
Oh, did I say "snow in the kitchen"?
Yep! I wanted to use spray snow on some pine cones, and since it poured rain all day yesterday, it snowed in the kitchen.
I haven't used spray snow in years and forgot how long it takes to dry between coats.
Don't look at the mess on the table...the whole house is in transition.
Here are a couple of hints of things I'm working on.
Here's a partial view of the mantel. I'll be adding fresh greens in a couple of days and tweaking things. I hope I don't get crazy and decide to do something totally different...no time for that before the party.
Fortunately, we decided to put the tree up before Thanksgiving, so we could take photos of the grands for their Christmas card.
Ours is a family style tree with ornaments we've collected over the years. This year, we only put about half the ornaments on, and I think I like it better that way.
Here's a hint of what's happening on the breakfast room hutch. I'm doing something totally different from what I normally do...sort of a retro look with my red and white transferware.
I've missed visiting with everyone and all your great decorating ideas, but I'll visit y'all tonight to see what everyone's doing.
I'm late, but I'll be joining Marty@ A Stroll Thru Live for
Table Top Tuesday.
Then let's go see Kim @Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesday.
Hugs,
Babs

I should spray some pine cones of my own, Babs. One of the ladies at the last bazaar I went to gave me a box full of them! I have enough for several wreaths, but when would I have the time? LOL Your tree looks lovely- good thing it was up to be the perfect backdrop for family pics! Enjoy your decorating. I just finished the 4th tree this morning. What was I thinking?
Your tree is beautiful; can't wait to see your mantel--I wish I had one to decorate! I just added some spray snow to my shopping list for this week--I'm gonna try that on some faux greenery--thanks for that inspiration. Have a great week. Patty
So glad your feeling better and had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Your tree is gorgeous.
It will be snowing in my kitchen today, decorating it in other words today, that is my goal!
Your tree is beautiful, full of family memories. Love it.

Wow ! What a beautiful tree - Love the red and gold combination... !!
Hope to see you at the party, Babs !!
I haven't used the spray snow in years either. I think we were out at the farm last time I used it.
We put up a family style tree for many years. The girls took home most of the family ornaments over Thanksgiving. I am happy to see them carrying on the tradition of those ornaments. We are paring down a tad. The family tree was very time consuming.:-)
Everything is looking beautiful at your house, Babs. I am looking forward to seeing more!
So glad that you're feeling better and that you ended up having a good Thanksgiving afterall. Your tree is so pretty! I love all of the old fashioned ornaments on it. Looks like you gotten alot done. I've used that snow spray before on pinecones and wreaths. I love it! It does make a mess though. Looking forward to seeing more as you get close to the finish line.

Babs,
Glad you're feeling much better, dear friend! Sounds as if a little family time was the perfect cure!!!Oh, how I remember using that snow stuff on the windows with stencils and then working until March to get it all off! Ha! Retro Christmas sounds intriquing...I'll be back soon, dear!
Fondly,
Pat
oh YAY! I had wanted to do pinecones all snowy, but I was planning to use glitter. I feel like the biggest "duh" on the planet for not thinking about snowing them. I'll be doing that instead.
Everything you have done so far looks wonderful! Here's to getting it all done before the party!
Your tree is gorgeous, Babs! Your projects look terrific! I know about transition...but I've just got a mess!

I've just given up on the idea that I am actually going to get much decorating done! I'm glad you're on top of it!!! It's looking fabulous! I'm going to try to do the snow-flocked pine cones this year, too. I'm going outside during this decent (50 degree) weather we've been blessed with to get it done. I'm not sure how they'll turn out! I can already see that yours are fab!
