Switching to Seashells

In case you didn't know, I LOVE seashells!
Earlier this week, I started reading The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde
Pilcher, and I remembered my box of seashells...the one that I'd put away for the winter...high on the closet shelf.  So with shells on my mind, I got them down...cleared off the coffee table and made a little vignette..

I found the lantern at Marshall's last week...oh, I have a thing for lanterns, too.
No, I'm not reading this book, I've read it, but I needed something else on the table, and that was the closest thing at hand that worked with the look.

The round alabaster bowl usually holds coasters...Hubby will be looking everywhere for them.
Poor guy, finally after all these years of marriage, he's getting used to my moving things around.

The foyer chest was bare since I put away the bunny print and tulips, so I decided to go ahead and put some shells there, too.

I just piled them in a chicken-wire basket with Spanish moss in the bottom...

... and added three fern fronds in a vase behind them, to give it a little extra something.

The shell painting on the chest and the two ship prints on the wall came from the thrift store a few months ago.

Here's a closer look at the ship prints...

And here on the desk, I added a sea biscuit as a paperweight...

I guess I'd better get back to my book and oh...here's one last shell...

Do you love seashells as much as I do?

I do not have as many as you do, though I certainly do enjoy my little collection. I remember reading and really liking The Shell Seekers.

Yes Babs, I do love seashells as much as you! I have been getting mine out too, but don't have my vignettes done yet. Yours are lovely.

Babs, I've always loved sea shells. They are works of art! I've read Shell Seekers a long time ago, and I've enjoyed every Rosamunde Pilcher book I've read. I also read Anne Rivers Siddons books, and have the same edition of the Nantucket book. Like minds!
Pretty vignettes. ~ Sarah

Yep. I love shells too. I also love vignettes around the house that are thematic and kind of tell a story so I think this is really pretty.

Love your new vignette in there. Shells are perfect to decorate with this time of year. You have a nice collection.

The fern fronds add a lot to the vignette!!! Color, texture, implied movement, height...really great choice!!! Mother Nature gives us such nice gifts! I love seashells, too. It's my catch phrase whenever someone is going on a trip, even if they're going somewhere arid or desolate: "Bring me back some seashells!" :-)

As usual you are so great with vignettes. Yes, I absolutely am in love with seashells. They are all over my house but I can't put them together as well as you.
Love the wire basket and the seashell painting along with all else you do.

I remember reading The Shell Seekers a very long time ago, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was about. I've read several of her books and remember that I loved them all. I love the addition of your shells to your vignettes, they are so pretty and just seem to announce that Summer is not far away. Ahh, the beach!

You have some gorgeous shells and your vignettes are beautiful. I love how you have put them all together, and such lovely ship prints too.

You asked about the flowers in my post. The one you questioned is a geranium. I love the color. Hope you have a super weekend. Hugs, Marty

Hi Babs,
Pretty vignettes! I like the shells in the wire basket. I remember reading The Shell Seekers many, many years ago. Thanks for the reminder, I remember reading that on the train when I commuted to NYC-way back when.

Babs,
Being a land~locked Prairie girl...I never developed an appreciation for shells! They definitely have a tranquil manner. Your vignettes are lovely! The print on the foyer table is so intriquing! Thank you for broading my scope of decor...as refreshing as a sea breeze!!!
