A Little Bit Retro

Are y'all having a great weekend? I started my weekend off by going out Friday morning for some quick thrifting therapy.
I was wandering the aisles of GW, looking for who-knows-what, when I saw something round and sort of flat, with a bunch of stuff piled on top of it. I could see a pretty shade of turquoise, so I pulled it out, and couldn't believe my eyes...

...it was a tole tray... and it had a magnolia on it!

I hadn't see one like it before...but, it had the Nashco sticker on the back, so I threw it into my basket before anyone else saw it.
When I got home, I stood it up on the hutch to look at it, and then decided to do an impromptu retro "drinks bar", using a couple of things that belonged to my mom, back in the 50s.

...Mom's Libbey Rock Sharpe stemware, in the Halifax pattern...

...and her aluminum ice bucket...

...what would you like to drink? We have wine, beer and iced tea...

...lemon and mint for the tea...served in a silver bowl with a lemon fork...and "monogrammed" cocktail napkins, of course...

...I love silver cocktail forks...I got this one on ebay, several years ago...

...here...let me refresh your drink...

Have a great week y'all, and enjoy the Olympics.
Hugs,
Babs

  4. Oh goodness, its beautiful. And a magnolia? What could be better? I love your bar set-up. I used to have a set of six silver cocktail forks, and somewhere between moving back from Europe they got lost in some boxes that never arrived. Boo! :( I would love to start collecting them again. Great post. Have a nice week. Barb

  8. Your post is a reminder that I need to drop in to the GW soon. ;-) The tray is lovely, Babs. Love the color. My mom had one of those aluminum ice buckets among her aluminum serving pieces. Not sure what happened to it, but I do have several other pieces of her aluminum things. So 50s!

  10. This is a really pretty vignette, Babs, and I love the way you so thoughtfully added pieces that work so well together! MY Mom had one of those aluminum ice buckets, too!!! Must have been a "thing" back then! I am peepin' out those cocktail forks and LOVING them!!!!!!

  11. I don't blame you for snatching up that tray in a hurry! Those can be quite costly. I bet you found it for a song! I love your new bar set-up it inspired. The cute lemon fork sparked my interest too. I keep lemons on hand all the time to go in my ice water. I could use a cute fork like that for when I have company.

  17. Well first, I love the tray. Second, you can do "impromptu" better than I can to "plan to". Love the way it all came out.
