Random things..mostly outdoors.

Is the heat getting y'all down?  Whew, me too! A few days ago, we had a visitor in the yard.

It was 105 degrees, and this poor turtle was crawling across the yard. His shell was so dusty...

...we gave him a mist with the hose, to cool him off.

Does that expression look like "thank you", or "get out of my way?"  In a couple of minutes, he had disappeared.

Now, the same day...
...the road department decided to resurface part of our street...105 degrees, and they're digging a trench in our street, and putting down asphalt. Go figure!

Next...believe it or not, I've done a couple of crafty things. Here's one that takes 5 minutes...or probably less.

I wanted some beachy fridge magnets, so, I got out the old glue gun...

...glued two magnets to a star fish and one on a shell...

..stuck a bit of sedum in the little shell to give it some pizzazz, and added a few drops of water...that should keep the sedum nice for a few days.

I did this last project today...

...Hubby made four little rustic stools out of some scrap lumber, and I painted them today...outside...in the shade...yep, painted and sweated... I mean "glowed".

Don't know what I'll use them for, but I had fun painting and distressing them.

Hope y'all are having a good week...

...stay cool.
Hugs,
Babs

  1. Babs, raining here ~ yipee! Late afternoon thunderstorm rolled in, temps dropped to 70s. NICE!
Sorry you are having such terrible heat. I think the turtle was thanking you. How could he not? ;-)

  3. Those little stools your husband made are so cute! I bet you'll find many uses for those. I like your magnets too. That was a good idea to make your own like that. The sedum plant you put in one of them is the perfect accent! You can always replace the live plant with a fake one after it dies. You should be on the lookout for a turtle shell in your yard, since you have a turtle in the area. Maybe you'll find one that you can use in your home!

We finally have cooler weather...at least over night. I went out for a walk at 6:30 this morning and it was only 63 degrees here in PA. Yay!

  9. Babs,
Our weather has cooled off for a few days and we had a nice rain shower in the night...enough that I could hear it in the downspouts!!! I think your turtle was thankful!!! Cute stools and I adore the distressing you did on them! Keep glowing throughout your day, dear friend!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  10. The reptiles are seeking water. We have both turtles and frogs in our flower garden where we water frequently. Your sedum magnet is brilliant!

  12. Hi Babs,
    The heat broke ,thank God.
I had company, and it was brutal eating outside even a block from the bay. Son bought us an outdoor fan which helped.
    Love your projects!
Can you cut back sedum to the ground in the Fall so it doesn't get so tall?
    Stay cool!

  13. I was worried you were going to say the turtle went back across the road when the tar guys came and it didn't end well for the turtle!
