Hi, Chai and Fruit Cake

Hi!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I know we did. Our son and his family, who live in NJ, Skyped us Christmas morning, and we got to see the grands open their presents. What fun!
Later in the afternoon, Hubby and I went to my aunt's house for a big supper with all the cousins and their spouses.
My aunt always makes homemade egg nog. Whoo! Hoo! Between the egg nog and the rum balls one of the cousins made, we didn't dare breath anywhere near the candles. :)

There isn't much new going on around the house right now. We don't take down our decorations til after the New Year, so there's nothing new to show you. It's so cold and windy today, all I want to do is curl up on the sofa with a cozy throw and something warm to drink.

I think our son is trying to encourage us to be "suphis-tu-cated". One of the Christmas presents he gave us is a pair of beautiful copper mugs...for serving Moscow Mules.
Well, DUH! I'd never heard of a Moscow Mule. I thought I'd make one, but after looking up the recipe, I decided there was no way I was making an ice cold drink in this weather. So, I decided to fill my mug with Chai latte...hot Chai latte.

I use tea bags, making it according to the directions...or a bit stronger... adding milk and white or brown sugar to taste.
You can also make it from scratch. Here's a link for the recipe.
Of course, I'm not compensated in any way for mentioning this brand.

A large dollop of whipped cream on top is really yummy, too...

...and a slice...or two, of fruit cake. Ok...ok...I know some of you don't like fruit cake...you can just pass on the fruit cake.

There. I'm feeling warmer already. Come on over. I'll make a latte for you, too.
I'll be by to visit everyone to see what you're doing for the New Year.
If it's cold like it is today, I might just have another latte, and watch the ball drop on TV.
Hugs,
Babs

The copper mugs are beautiful, and that drink is new to me too. A hot cup of tea sounds good. Cold here too.
Stay warm and enjoy the leisure time.

Looks so warm and wonderful. My hubby is the fruitcake person in our house. I will eat it, but he will eat ALL of it! :) I baked two during the Christmas holidays, and also made some fruitcake cookies, and bought several small ones for him as well. It's his absolute favorite cake. Enjoy your evening!

I love fruitcake!! Not sure what all the hoopla about it - but Mom use to pour rum on it, then wrap it in one of her kitchen towels, put it in a bag and then in the refrigerator! It would be gone by the end of the night!!

Those copper mugs are so pretty! It does make whatever you drink in them better, doesn't it? It was sooooo cold and awful yesterday. We went out to eat and then to the grocery store and braved the elements. It was blowing sleet and felt like a snow storm was near. It was a welcome sight to see the sun shining again this morning!

Hi Babs, I had not thought of using the whipped cream. That is a great idea. I really love the chai latte but chai tea not so much. I am an enormous coffee drinker. Happy New Year, Olive

Babs, I have enjoyed our visits this year and look forward to next year.
Your gift of copper mugs was great, they look great and the drinks sound scrumptious. Enjoy your Christmas decor. I certainly missed putting up mine.
We just got in from Illinois. Got caught up in the snow storm, so glad to be home.
Happy New Year! Ginger

I keep trying different Chai teas, but haven't found one I like (I know, I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like Chai tea), but maybe if I had it in a beautiful copper mug.....hmmmm? Cozy up, lady, and enjoy!
