Memorial Day Breakfast Tablescape

This week is going by so fast and the weekend will soon be here. Yay!

For many years I collected Byers' Choice Carolers and the girl with her basket of sea shells is one of my favorites.
She was the inspiration for my breakfast tablescape for Memorial Day.

Dressed in her old fashioned swim costume, she reminds me
of times gone by.
I love the little basket of shells and the starfish she's holding in her hand.

I set her up as the centerpiece on the coffee table with some shells and a lantern and brought out some red pillows, that I use in the fall, to brighten the deck chairs.

She didn't come with a flag but I always have her carry a little cupcake flag, which seems to be just the right size.
I always think of her at the beach.. or the shore, if you're in NJ  :)... on Memorial Day weekend.

The bistro table is so small so I set up the cups on the coffee table.

This wooden tray is from GW a couple of months ago and I spray painted it white. I have a thing for trays... have you noticed? Even old plain wooden ones like this one follow me home.

Do the napkins look familiar? I folded them in the double sails sailboat shape by using the tutorial that Susan@BetweenNapsOnThePorch  shows here.

It was really very easy and lots of fun. Here I tucked the starfish in, but you could use a place card or favor.

I hope y'all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with family and friends.

God bless all who have served our country and sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

I hope you'll stop by  Tablescape Thursday and see all the great ideas from so many wonderful bloggers. See you there.

Hi Babs!
This is so sweet!
I am super Patriotic and the older I get, the more emotional I get about our country.
I started collecting American flags, old ones, a bout five years ago and I am not sure how many I have now,
Lost track!'Would normally have our house decked with bunting right now but I was waiting to put it out, and now we have nothing but major RAIN in the forecast for the next four days!
May have to wait until July to get it all out...?
Thanks for sharing.
God bless America.

hi Babs, Yes, I can just see your caroler on the Jersey shore! I collect them too, but I don't have this one. I like you use of corks in the candleholder and your napkins came out so well! Have a very wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Linda

Babs, your sweet bathing beauty adds so much to your "shore" inspired table vignette! Love the striped napkins folded into the shape of a sailboat. Clever .... As a little girl, I always remember patriotic parades and ceremonies in the plaza. To think that people now sometimes don't even remove their hats for the flag or the national anthem! Have a great Memorial Day celebration.

Love your breakfast tablescape! The morning sun is intense on our back deck and patio, so I'm envious of your deck. Byers' Choice is a company in my area of PA, and I do visit "the shore," so you know I like your table!

Have a safe holiday, all.

Regina, Thanks for your comment about Byers' Choice Ltd..
I've long been a fan of Byers' Choice and we visited there several years ago. We were the only people there when we arrived and everyone was so nice. I was so surprised because we actually got to meet Joyce Byers. As I'm sure you know, it's an outstanding company.
Hope you have a great weekend,
Babs

Babs, I just love that your table is beach-themed without being "beachy!" Your caroler-swimmer is the perfect inspiration piece, and I'm so glad she's holding the little flag. It's the perfect finishing touch! Nicely done!

Hey Babs...love the red pillows and the napkins. We were actually able to eat on our deck last night. I had to wait until the very last minute to see if we were going to get rain but it went around us! It was the first time and the official beginning of summer! Your deck is so nice...great inspiration. Hope your weekend was wonderful. ~Ann
