Looking Forward to Fall

Hi, Everybody!
I've been working on a couple of changes for Fall. Even though the weather is warm again, I'm thinking cool... come on  Fall.

I love using natural elements as much as possible.
On the chest in the entry hall, I did a somewhat rustic arrangement, using an old wooden box and gourds.
The gourds are volunteers from the garden. A nice surprise.
I'm staying with cool greens and browns, since it's still in the 80s outside.

You can see the gourds are still green, but they'll turn a nice shade of tan as they dry.

Normally, I would have used dried hydrangea, but this time, I went with faux.
I put three gourds in the old wooden box, added lotus pods and some twigs, to give it height, stuffed in the hydrangeas, and that was it.

In the living room, I decided to take the antlers down from the secretary (I know some of y'all will be happy about that)  :) ...and use them in the dough bowl, with an assortment of natural things...wicker balls, moss, dried pods and some round things that look like dried fruit.

I have no clue as to what those fruit things are.
Everything, except the antlers, gourds and pine cones, came from Home Goods in a chicken wire basket.  I'll use the basket later...probably in the kitchen.

I added some Sedum  Autumn Joy to a silver vase, and that's it.
Sorry the photo is sort of pink, I guess it's a reflection from the walls.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm still working on my hutch in the kitchen and a few more changes.

I'll be joining Sherry @ The Charm of Home for
Home Sweet Home Friday.
Photobucket

and Honey @2805 for Potpourri Friday.

See y'all there.

Boy did I just get some great ideas. I'm going to cut some of my sedum, gather sticks from my yard and buy a dough bowl! I love it all. I honestly have been looking for a dough bowl but can't find one that's reasonably priced. I'm sure not giving up though. I'm sure cooler temps are coming...

Babs, I love your two fall arrangements. The wood box filled with gourds, hydrangeas and pods is what I had in my head to do. You grow gourds. Wow.

Every picture filled with beauty. Love your fall colours and themes. I think I will try your 'wooden box' theme. The the antlers in trencher brought a smile. Looking very good.

Very lovely. I really like using natural elements in arrangements also. The box in the foyer really contrast with your cherry chest. Love it.

Thanks so much for the inspiration! I am just getting ready to fall up the house. I promised myself that I would wait this year until the official fall start.

It has been difficult, but I'm almost there!

Hi there! Love the way you styled that dough bowl. I have one that I'm not even using at the moment. Maybe I'll do something with mine over the holidays. I just have too many things and not enough room! Ha!

Babs,
What a beautiful entry way arrangement using gourds. The transformation to tan will be such fun to watch! Your coffee table decor is lovely...deer sheds and all! Could the fruit be "figs"?
Fondly,
Pat

Babs...I am LOVING that hallway arrangement!!! Geez, woman...it's gorgeous! It looks 100,000% professional!!! I really like the pale green gourds in the arrangement that give it such a fresh, almost contemporary look. I used to grow Autumn Sedum at our old house. Looking at the pretty arrangement you made with it makes me want to grow it again. It always looks so great, and the plants are wonderfully low maintenance just like I like 'em! You're making some beautiful moves toward fall! It's in the upper 60s here today with a bit of a breeze. Very nice! Hope it makes it your way soon!

There's not a speck of fall in my house yet but we certainly have the cooler weather! Love both of your arrangements but the one on the chest I really love.

Hi Babs, I am just loving your dough bowl arrangement. And you've outdone yourself with the hall arrangement, it's just gorgeous. I'm trying to work with more natural elements this year also, at least until we get closer to Halloween!
