Early August Garden

This time of year, most of our garden is rather lackluster, but the Crepe myrtles are  putting on a show.

We have four of these beauties. They usually bloom the middle of July, but they're a couple of weeks late this year.

Our Natchez crepe myrtle is really looking good.
It was put in three years ago, when we had the walkway done.

These pink Vinca all reseeded themselves from last year...along with one or two yellow Lantana.
The Autumn Joy sedum, in the middle...

...and this one, were planted at the same time. It amazes me that they look so different.

Flagstone path leading from the deck to the shed.
Do you think it looks like a snake?

The Banana peppers are producing a LOT...why did I plant so many?

Butterflies are loving the Zinnias.

A garden sign I rescued.

Thanks for visiting our cottage garden.
Let me fill a bag with some Banana peppers for you to take home. :)

  1. Your garden is lovely. I'll pass on the banana peppers. Our peppers are doing better than anything else in our garden.

  2. Lovely, Babs. I'm always in awe of the crepe myrtles that bloom and bloom all summer long. Many are along the highways were only nature is watering them. The certainly can stand the heat and droughts conditions.

  3. I don't think it looks lackluster at all, everything still looks great!! Although I do like Crepe Myrtle, seeing them in bloom is a little sad for me as it is a sign Summers end is near ~ I like your flagstone path, it looks like it could have been there 100 years :) ~ Judi

  4. So pretty! I wish we had pruned our crepe myrtles this year so they would've bloomed. Yours are gorgeous! I love that wooden structure in your garden too that is shaped like a cone. Not sure what it's called.

  8. Such a beautiful garden! Every time that I see how much effort some of my fellow bloggers put into their gardens, I am horrified that I do not garden. My poor husband has a job just keeping up with mowing our yard - yikes! We need to do better!!

  10. I love that snaky path! It is hard to keep color in the garden once mid season hits. I like the myrtle such a pretty color. Have a great weekend, Laura

  12. For some reason my crepe myrtles and my tomatoes aren't doing very well. It's taking for ever for them to turn red and for the myrtles to bloom!! Your's are BEAUTFIUL!

  13. I love seeing the southern gardens! Yours is so pretty, Babs. I wish we had trees that flowered past the early spring days.
Your climate is so much more suited to these beauties.
And yes, bag up some peppers for me!
