Here are some random things that have happened around the house lately.
I've had this little ceramic Jack O' Lantern for a long time, and it's sporting a new hair style...a new Tillandsia (air plant).
Jack came with one many years ago, when I bought it for my mom.
I ran across some Tillandsia in a gift shop the other day, and now he's lookin' good again.
Mom had a brown thumb, bless her heart, and even though the Tillandsia requires almost no care, it didn't survive.
Here's Jack, with two other Tillandsia that I bought at the same time. The orchid blooms dropped, so I added the spooky Tillandsia to the stems.
Jack shows up in different spots around the house during October...just for fun.
This pic is from 2011, but I do something similar every year on the deck.
After Thanksgiving, I'll exchange the Fall wreath for a Christmas one, and the pumpkin for a large orb, or holiday arrangement.
Remember my fear of door wreaths and the praying mantis?
Click HERE if you missed that post.
The praying mantis stayed in the wreath for exactly one week.
Later, we saw her on the side of the house, and then she disappeared.
So, I breathed a sigh of relief. No more praying mantis...I hope. Well, three days later, guess what?
No, it's not the praying mantis again.
Can you see what it is?
A tree frog!
What is it with my door wreath that keeps attracting critters?
Thankfully, it left after a couple of days. Hubby spotted it in one of the urns beside the door. What next? On to other things...
...here's a Fall vase filler I found at Pier One. Not sure exactly what they are, but they look like little pumpkins.
This larger one looks sort of like a pumpkin/tomato cross. :)
That's about all I've done lately, and the days are flying.
I can't believe I've been looking at Christmas decorating ideas on Pinterest, and I haven't even decorated for Halloween yet.

That little tree frog is just the cutest. We've been seeing them in our courtyard...but only if you know where to look! I love seeing the old books on your bookshelf...Treasure Island looks very neat! Enjoy you Fall decorating! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow, those critters sure do love your wreath:) I have those little pumpkins but just can't remember where they are, Yours look adorable in the hurricane candle holder!
ReplyDeletethat little frog is super cute and super green, and I feel like I am seeing praying mantis everywhere. love that pumpkin with the air plant!
ReplyDeleteLove little Jack and his new hairdo!
ReplyDeleteI also like what you've done on the deck.
Ha!!! I can not believe you had another visitor on your wreath!!!! And I like jacks new hair!!!! Your filler is a find!!! All the best this weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe its a problem we have in this region Babs. I made a living wreath of aloe and various sedum in a wall pocket basket on the door. I had all manner of wildlife in my basket on the door. Plus birds kept stealing from the coco liner. I had to move it to the swing set where everything seems to leave it alone. Or maybe I do not notice whats going on.
ReplyDeleteBabs, the day after I read your praying mantis post, we had a large one on our door~ tis the season I suppose! I love how "Jack" moves around your house! He sounds a lot like the Elf on the Shelf! :)
ReplyDeleteLove all of your Fall decor and I have had a bird nesting in one of my wreaths years ago...got to the point where we could not use that door...but good thing it never happened again...they left a mess!!!..at least Praying Mantis are neat and tidy! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I love the little frog. We get one periodically on our front porch if we leave a light on out there. I think he shows up to eat bugs the light attracts!
ReplyDeleteI used to get bird's nests in my wreaths all the time. The tree frog is too cute. xo
ReplyDeleteThat is just too funny about your door attracting critters! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone else's doing that. Who would've ever thought a frog would be there too??? LOL! I like the Fall decorations you have. The candle in the hurricane with the filler around it looks very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the days are flying by! I really like the vase filler from Pier One! The air plant in the jack-o-lantern looks cool!
ReplyDeleteHi Babs, your Fall décor is looking lovely. I also adore your collection of books in the first picture. So happy that the little pumpkin got his hair back! lol! I have had praying Mantis and Katydids in my yard lately, but luckily no tree frogs and not on my door. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
