Not the Easter Bunny

I was browsing TJ Maxx/HomeGoods the other day, looking for Easter things, when I spied this big boy.

He's just over 18 inches tall, and I thought, "What a great Easter Bunny!"
He's perfect for an Easter centerpiece.

When I got home with him, I got out the Easter eggs and decorations from last year.
Just as I was "getting inspired", I heard that big boy say,
"Excuse me, but I am NOT the Easter Bunny.
I am Hare E. Rabbit...and isn't it a little early to be decorating for Easter?"
 Ohh...O-kay.

"Well, I said, "let me think...what if I lose the Easter eggs, use lots of greenery, and hide the Easter basket behind you?"...

..."and, what if I use a few Hellebores, and a faux boxwood ball in the bird's nest?"

"That will be fine," Hare E. said..."as long as you don't use too much yellow and pink."
(Gosh, that rabbit has an attitude.)  :)
"Well, okay," I said.

"But, then what do I do about decorating for Easter?" I asked.

"Well...don't tell anyone," Hare E. said..."but I do have a distant cousin named Peter...you might check with him."

"Oh, okay," I said.
So much for an early Easter post.
Guess I'll check with Hare E.'s cousin Peter. Wish me luck. :)

  5. Babs,
Do you think he is jealous of his brother, Peter, and that accounts for his attitude? Regardless, your table is beautiful with its greens and the hellebores.

  8. Well I really like Mr. Hare! He is perfect for an Easter table setting or just to look cute on a side table somewhere. Isn't Easter early this year anyway? I know Spring break starts at the end of March.

  14. Did you just get back from Colorado? ;-) VERY imaginative story!!!

I was in Home Goods yesterday and saw this bunny, too. I wanted him, but he had a chip on his shoulder. LITERALLY...there was a chunk missing on his shoulder! I wondered why on earth they still had him in general population instead of on the clearance aisle. I like how you disguised that eggs in his basket. I should have thought of that. I wanted to be able to put whatever I wanted in the basket; otherwise I would have insisted on a huge discount and taken his hairy little tail right on home with me! Heck...I could have put enough of a ribbon tie on him to cover that chip!

I don't think it's too early to decorating for Easter at all!!! Lent has begun, so I say go for it! I know I am! :-)

    VERY pretty vignette, Babs!!!

Please share which store has those M&M's with carrot cake! Maybe your area is a test market! I've looked in 2 states without luck!

    Thanks,

  26. Hmmm......I think Mr. Hare's handsome good looks may have gone to his head! I think he looks pretty charming in his "not-too-Eastery" look, but will be equally grand with a few lovely eggs in his basket!

  39. Love your post and your great Hare E. Rabbit. I found my bunny at Home Goods that I love. It is a different one with no basket but huge and makes a great centerpiece. I have her on top of a boxwood wreath with some cute Easter eggs. Everyone is sure ready for Spring. Thanks for sharing and your fun post.

  40. I am still in Love with Hare E. Rabbit. I never did find a fine rabbit like yours last year. I am going off to Home Goods and Hobby Lobby today to see if I can find a handsome bunny to grace the Easter table for this year. Wish me luck, Home Goods in our area does not seem to have much this year (I went last week) a couple of bunny plates and a few grapevine bunnies was all I have found in the last three trips I have made to HG. Very disappointing! Have a wonderful Week..... Candy
