I don't really have a collection exactly, just over the years I keep finding them... sort of like strays.
None of them have much value, but they make me smile when I see them.
This is the oldest one. I've had this little boy, with his little brown dog, since I was a child. He's very top heavy and poor thing fell over and his head popped off. I was in my teens when I made the repair. Musta been goood glue for it to stay on this long.
For some reason, I have a thing for terriers. I won these two on Ebay.
I found this at an antique mall years ago. It's made of metal and very heavy. I guess it's supposed to be an ash tray, but I use it for paper clips.
These two little terriers are metal, also. I've had them so long I don't remember where I got them.
The bird dog with a pheasant is from a flea/tique shop.
This is my favorite, a little Staffordshire. I found it at a really "low end" thrift store for $2. You never know where treasures will turn up!
This little black and white spaniel is a reproduction, of course.

I love this picture with the two puppies. We found it several years ago at a furniture store that was going out of business.
Just Good Friends, by Lucy Dawson (aka Mac).
Lucy Dawson (1877-1958)
British born Lucy Dawson (aka Mac) is known for her paintings and etchings of
dogs. There is very little about her on line, but you can see a little more about her, here.
Do any of you have dogs that have followed you home?
Hope y'all have a great week.
Hugs,
Babs
Hi Babs! I love your dog collection! I have quite a few dogs, myself...more than I have cats for some reason! Maybe the real kitties just can't be matched! lol Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteCute collection! I only have a beagle that reminds me of the dog I had that I lovingly called The Brat, and a cute hand carved Scottie my son made in wood shop class. Hope the heat breaks soon for you:@)
ReplyDeleteBabs, what a great collection of doggies. I love the bird dog the best.
ReplyDeleteLove all your pooches. I have been looking at Staffordshire dogs on eBay. I knew they would be pricey but I wasn't prepared for just how pricey they are! I won't be buying one any time soon. What a nice collection. My little mini schnauzer has the black and silver markings. It's hard to find knick knacks that really look like her. We do have a plate of a schnauzer puppy that is the spitting image of her when we brought her home. Have a great week...sure hope you all cool down.
ReplyDeleteHi Babs. I do have a few dogs around here. Actually more than I realized until I started thinking about it. Charles Faudree is a master at decorating with dogs. Do you know the book Living with Dogs? Fun book.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed meeting your dogs, Babs. ~ Sarah
