I worked on a new look for the secretary a couple of weeks ago, but since it was still August and 98 degrees, I decided to wait a couple of weeks before I posted it.
So now, here it is...
I hope y'all don't think I'm rushing the season, it's just that so many things in my house are fall-ish in style and color.
Most of the time the secretary is closed...
...but I opened it so you can see everything.
I showed you a couple of glimpses of the pudding mold and antler in an earlier post.
Some of these things you've seen before. I'm just using them in different... or the same places again. :)
I just love the shape of this little silver creamer. I found it recently in an antique mall.
The Allertons blue and white bowl belonged to one of my great grandmothers.
On the right side of the top shelf you'll see a tiny framed photo of my father-in-law as a young boy. Love those little thistles on the frame.
A little Staffordshire style figure.
The little picture on the left, is just a copy of an old picture, which I put in a thrift store frame. Sorry, I didn't get a close up of it.
Now don't laugh...see the antlers on top of the secretary? I kept moving them around and couldn't find a place for them. My storage closet is crammed full and they won't fit, so I plopped them up there.
Now tell me truthfully, should the antlers stay on top or go out to the shed??
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.
Let's go see Marty @ A Stroll Thru Life for Table Top Tuesday
and Kim @ Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesdays.

Babs, I'd leave this gorgeous secretary open all the time. I've dreamed of owning a secretary like this for many many years. Some day! Each one of your vignettes make my heart sing. You have beautiful style!

Everything is gorgeous, Babs! I love the antlers on top...reminds me of an antique French hutch I saw at Scott's with a hunting motif! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteThis is magazine worthy, Babs!
ReplyDeleteLove that plaid book and the little oil painting too.
Just gorgeous.

It is beautiful! Wonderful blog! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for dropping by and saying hi. I just love the cabinet, it is my type of furniture completely. The content are the sorts of things I would love to keep in the cabinet:)
ReplyDeleteHello, I just discovered your blog and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. When we close up our summer cottage and head home, I'm going to give my secretary a seasonal look. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteI think this is fabulous - what I'd see in a book about country houses in Scotland. The antlers following the curves of the secretary is brilliant. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the doors open to highlight your beautiful things.
ReplyDeleteThe horns are a nice effect, I had to look twice as I thought they were part of it at first. What a good job to make them fit in and look special. I do not have the same love for horns as some do. My father and 5 brothers were hunters and we had antlers everywhere when I grew up, I think they are fun for others, just not me. Richard from My Old Historic House.

The secretary all by itself is such a beauty. I love the look of it. I kept thinking English countryside for some reason. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece and decorated so well. I love all the blue willow and blue and white transferware.
ReplyDeleteBrenda sent me and I am so glad! Love how you dressed up e secretary for fall-leave the antlers!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing-from your new follower, Lee
Hi Babs! Just came over from Brenda's blog to say "Hi!". This secretary is gorgeous and you've decorated it beautifully. I love it with the doors open as well, but I'm sure that might not be realistic for your everyday living. My vote - antlers in shed! : )
ReplyDeleteI would love to add some of the photos of your secretary to my board on Pinterest, but only with your permission of course. If you don't want me to, that's fine. Thanks Babs!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Kim
Your secretary is beautiful and the antlers are so in now that I think maybe you should leave them. Love your blog and am now following. ~Ruth
ReplyDeleteI'm back, this time via Brenda's blog.
ReplyDeleteI think that you have done a fine job of decorating that beautiful secretaty. I love it with the dorrs open.
Not sure about the antlers... I know that they are in right now by they might be a little distracting in real life. There is a lot of 'movement' at the top of the secretary.

ReplyDeleteIn the Uk this piece of furniture is called a bureau. Thankyou for sharing the lovely things you have in yours.
ReplyDeleteYour secretary is beautiful, I just love traditional furnishings! Your pieces are so pretty; the silver creamer, your blue and white, and even your antlers...perfect! You are creative, but if they want to fall from up there, just place in your secretary on the shelves. You've got great style!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting and your sweet comments. Following you!
Blessings,
Cindy
OK that does it! I'm really loving your style! And the antlers on top of the secretary *winks* I don't know how I managed to miss following your blog before? But I've fixed that now......Vanna/your newest follower
