Ok, I'll try to get calmed down and show you my new...well, sort of new... Fall wreath.
Remember this wreath I made for the Summer?
I wanted to re-use the grapevine wreath, take off the plate, and add something that looked more like Fall.
So, I took off the plate and scrubbed the welcome off with a Magic Eraser.
Since I had used a permanent marker, I wasn't sure it would come off, but the Magic Eraser did the trick.
After all that, I decided not to use the plate, but try something a little different. I left the magnolia leaves on as a base.
I rummaged through all my wreath making materials. There were sunflowers, berries and fall leaves that I've used for several years, and frankly, I was tired of them.
But, I did have faux grapes, wine corks and a few odds and ends...
and this is how it looks...
I turned the wreath sideways, and decided to use
couple of the reddish sunflowers, anyway, to brighten it.
I pulled off some of the magnolia leaves, exposing more of the grapevine, and then hot glued them to the left side of the wreath to fill in that side.
You can't really see them unless you look closely, but I used corks that came from a special wine or vineyard I like.
I don't know where this cork came from, since my son gave me a huge bag of corks that he was going to throw out. French wine? Oh, yeah. :)
My new-ish Fall wreath didn't cost a cent, since I already had everything.
I can handle that. :)
I did a couple of other updates, but I'll show you those later.
Hope you're having a great weekend.
Hugs, Babs

He was going to throw the corks out??!?!?!!!! Yikes!!!!! That gave me the willies just to think that all those cool corks would be trashed! I have collected them for years, and I display my favorites in a shadow box. Well, I'm glad he thought to give them to you instead. You've created a beautiful new look for your wreath, Babs! And congratulations on your Welcome Wagon salute!!!
ReplyDeleteBabs, just came over to visit and love your blog. So I am a new follower :)

What I really love about this is that it is fallish but not at all the norm or what is expected with the usual colors, etc.
ReplyDeleteI also love the use of the corks.
Babs,
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I adore how the hues of the sunflowers are similar to the hue of your front door! Isn't it amazing how creativity and time = a masterpiece with no cost involved???
Fondly,
Pat
Your wreath is just beautiful, & how fun that you were able to create this beauty for FREE! Great job!

Hi Babs...
ReplyDeleteI remember when you posted about your summer wreath...and I loved it! Ohhh...but your autumn wreath really "tickles my fancy"! Hehe! It really is one of the most gorgeous autumn wreaths that I've ever seen! I just love it! I love that you used grapes and the wine corks in the decor! In fact, I have used grapes and wine corks in the autumn decor in my dining room this year...would love to have your wreath to go in there. Maybe I'll have to borrow your design!
Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous autumn wreath with us...it truly is one of my favorites this year!
Warmest autumn wishes,
Chari
