The Hutch is About to Change.

I'm working on a new Fall look for my kitchen/breakfast area hutch...but this isn't it. :)

Here's what my hutch looked like until a few days ago.

It's so strange.  I love Blue Willow, but after it was on the hutch for a couple of weeks, for some reason, I wasn't happy with the look.
Does that ever happen to you?

Well, here are a few close ups, as it was.

One Happiness Jar and two little Revere bowls are on the top, along with plates, cups and saucers.

I don't have a tureen or other large piece, so I used a silver PB wine cooler and julep cups to fill in.

The silver vases, on either side, hold the little spindly Rosemary plants I've been trying to train to standard all summer.
They are pitiful. :(

All the dishes are Churchill, and not old... with the exception of one Booth's plate which I've had for a long time.

I know the little sterling tea pot/ tea ball is on the outside, but it's so cute, I wanted you to see it.
Can you believe I found it, several years ago, in the back of a junk drawer at my mom's house?  It was black with tarnish, and she didn't even know she had it.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have time for a cup of tea before you go.

I'll show you the new Fall look for the hutch soon.
Hugs,
Babs

  2. One can never go wrong with blue willow. I have had some pieces as long as I can remember. Once when I was in college, I found a huge platter and it was only$20. I had no money, asked the shop to hold it, had to give him my watch to hold, begged and barrow from room mates and friends and went and got it the next day. Still hangs in my kitchen. Thanks for showing us your darling hutch and B and W. Richard from My Old Historic House.

  3. Your hutch looks very pretty. I have always loved the look of blue mixed with silver pieces. And yes, I have decorated like crazy, then in a matter of days I am wanting to change it.

Thanks for stopping by for the kitchen tour and leaving such a sweet comment. The cabinets are cherry. Have a great weekend.

  10. I will always love a blue and white display of china, but I know what you mean about getting it just right. I love your teapot. I recently found a Johnson Brothers blue willow teapot, but it is much rounder. The shape of yours is beautiful. I can't wait to see your finished display!

  13. I love the look of your dresser as it is, but will still look forward to seeing how you redo it. Ours tends to stay the same, maybe I should consider a change.

  14. I am so gaga over blue, white and yellow. Blue and white is just so serene. I do know what you mean. I need to rearrange my sideboard in the kitchen. I haven't shown it cause I just can't get it right.
Can't wait to see what you do for fall. It will be hard to outdo this beautiful blue and white display. The silver mingled in was a great choice. Love the little tea ball. So neat that you rescued it from the junk drawer.
    Have a great weekend.
