A Different Lamp and Thrift Finds

The table lamps in the family room have been bugging me for years.
Here's a pic from earlier in the year; and you can see they're really beige and boring.

Today, I finally found a new lamp that I like, at a really reasonable price, so I used it with two thrift pieces for a new look on one of the end tables in the family room.

The lamp is a definite update from the old ones, but it was a tad shorter than I wanted, so I set it on a wooden box to give it a bit more height.

I love pewter, and although this isn't real pewter, it has a shine and a look that speaks to me.
It's actually Wilton Armetale.

Since there isn't a glass top on this little table, I decided the metal tray could serve as a place to set a glass or cup...as well as hold the candle.
Oh, and I changed the tablecloth to a more neutral khaki color.

The big red apple looks like wood, but is actually some sort of pottery and very heavy.  It also has a neat metal leaf and stem.
It seems like I have a metal thing going, as the lamp looks like it's metal too.
I was too lazy to move the phone, and now that I look at it, there's that metallic look again.

I decided not to put a table lamp on the other end table, but use a floor lamp by the wing chair... I'll show you that another time. That side of the room was a big mess.
You know how it is.

Well, it isn't a big change. But, it'll do...for now.

Let's go join these great parties...

Great update with the lamp. The metal tree with the huge apple next looks great. You mean you messed up your house while making it pretty? lol Never done that. : )

I really like how you arranged your side table. I love pewter too. That looks real enough to me! Your new lamp is very pretty. Don't you love getting new things for your home before the holidays arrive? It was so nice meeting you last weekend! I posted about our day and Sue left me a comment that she will have the group picture posted on her blog very soon. We'll have to keep our eyes open for it. Wish I had gotten someone to use my camera for it. I'm hoping she will list some of the names of people that came too. I would love to look at their blogs and see their pics too. Sue said she was Italian, so that explains all the wonderful food!

I like your changes, Babs! There's more "movement" and texture now which is always nice in the Fall and Winter.

Have you started your Sally List? http://myplacetoyours.blogspot.com/2011/11/sally-list.html

Hi Babs, love the vignette with the new lamp. I think the old ones look great, but we all like to change things up. I like your tip on sitting the lamp on a wooden box to add height. It really is an awesome lamp, love the base. I love Pewter, but not the price tag. I've had my eye out for used pieces.
Hope your having a great week.

I'm dreadfully behind on your posts...I totally missed this one. Love this lamp but what I love even more is the lamp shade. It's all perfect. Now I'm going to read the post AFTER this one to see what you did with the floor lamp!
