Don't get too excited...it's only a little project, and one that I've been wanting to do for a some time.
I wanted to use this old vanity bench in the entry next to the chest, but the fabric was really old and the wrong color.
I've been looking for a neutral linen-y fabric, but hadn't been able to find the right color and/or the right price.
So, wanting to get the bench seat covered, I used what I had.
This burlap bag came from GW last year, when I thought I'd use it for something, but put it away, and forgot about it.
I'm not a huge fan of burlap, but it was only $1, so what could I lose?
I cut it apart, used the back since it was plain, added a layer of polyester batting and stapled it to the seat...sorry, I didn't get photos of that part...I was wrestling with power tools, the mess from the burlap fibers, and completely forgot to take photos.
What do you think?
Here it is with two pillows that I got at Home Goods.
I can't decide if they're too big for the bench.
Maybe a long pillow would be better? Hmmm.
But for now, I'm happy with the look.

You done good and at such a great price, plus you have the fun front of the burlap bag left. Richard from My Old Historic House.
That looks great, but what did you do with the cute front part. Very unusual.
Babs that looks fabulous!! I love burlap and I love the whole look of your entry! Beautiful!!
Babs, it is beautiful and the pillow make it pop. Olive
Looks perfect. I like the 2 pillows too. I love the look of burlap but I hate the smell and lint when you are working with it. Way to hang in there! Burlap and power tools are quite a combination. Have a great week!
Great job, Babs...I love it dressed in burlap and the pillows are just perfect!!

I remember you mentioning this little burlap sack to me because of the elephant on it. That was cute! It looks good on your bench. That was a good idea to use the burlap like that.
Babs, it looks great. I like the neutral of the burlap. You should take the front side and make it into a pillow. The graphics are great. ~ Sarah
Babs,
I love your bench makeover, dear friend! Like you, I think the bench with two pillows looks fine for now!

It is amazing how burlap updated that bench! It looks great!I like the pillows too.
I think it looks wonderful! The pillows are darling on it.
Thanks for visiting me today!

Looks great! Your house always looks so clean and fresh!
Looks great! I can understand your reluctance to use the front side of the burlap bag for this project and location but I agree with the other bloggers- you need to make a pillow out of the front side! I'm sure it can find a home somewhere. I immediately thought of making it into a long narrow pillow utilizing most of the graphics. If not that, just use a square area the encompasses the graphics. It is unique and I'm kind of an elephant geek so I would have a hard time not using it! I'm also wondering if some tassles would look good at the corners of the bench?
Looks wonderful with your other pieces.
Looks fabulous - and I love both pillows on the bench!
Love the casual burlap look with your very traditional chest. Great job!..I also love the art on the reverse side.
Hi Babs, I love it and I must say it is so nice to see a darker piece of furniture in your pictures. The dark woods are soooo beautiful.

Burlap is messy, isn't it! Love what you've done with it here though. So nice to have a place to sit in the entry. Thanks for sharing, liz

Hey Babs, I had to back up a post and see your bench. It looks awesome and I DO like the two pillows on it. The oversized look makes it look important! Great project!

Happy New Year, Ginger
It looks great. Have you thought about using some fabric paint to add a pop of color, like stripes, onto the burlap for an even bigger impact? I think the two pillows look good, too.
Love it, Babs...and since I'm reading your posts in reverse order (silly me) I know what you did with the front and I LOVE it! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
