Serene Vignette
I found this statue in a thrift store the other day. It was lying down, way on the back of the shelf.
I'm not really sure if it's a statue of a saint, or of Christ, but either way, I liked it and brought it home.
I also found the little celadon rice bowl the same day, and decided to put the statue and bowl on the foyer chest, with the candle and old Bible.
Do you love the chippy paint on it?
I found two smooth stones in the garden, and put them in the bowl.
The old Bible, belonged to my great grandfather...
...I found a little boutonniere pressed in the pages. I'd love to know when he wore it...perhaps my grandmother's wedding?
Somehow, the combination of things felt very serene to me.
I hope it makes you feel the same way.
I'll see you at these parties...

Babs what a beautiful statue and I LOVE all it's chippiness! You created such a pretty vignette!
I love how you combined all of those items into a pretty vignette. That little statue is so unique. You're so lucky to have your great grandfathers bible too! It's so old and beautiful.
He has wonderful patina and could be a wiseman from a creche. It is lovely vignette.
It is a very calming vignette, Babs. Love the chippy little statue-looks a little like a santo from my home state of New Mexico . What a lovely treasure in the family bible. :-)
Hugs, Sue
A very pretty combination and I love your hurricane.
He does look like he could be a saint...at least the way I imagine a saint would look. You get the best stuff at thrift stores...hope you are having a good week.
The vignette is so lovely and peaceful, especially with the addition of the Bible.

Babs,
When I'm out thrifting, there are things that speak to my soul. This statue would have had that affect on me, indeed. I enjoyed your serene vignette!

Love the statue. Could it be one of the wise men?
So beautiful,

Babs, that vignette is just lovely to me. It makes me want to do something like it. The thrift find was a great inspiration (I love chippy paint too), and using your grandfather's Bible is perfect.
I love the treasure pressed inside!

It is lovely, Babs, and serene. I took the family Bible when my mom died. When I was a kid I used to press 4 leaf clovers in it, and they were still there!
Sweet vignette!
Yes, serene is a perfect description. I love the environment you created around the statue. And yes, I too love the chippy paint. What a great find.
