Winter Breakfast Table

All week, I've had the feeling that all I want to do is snuggle up in a blanket and hibernate.
It's cold and rainy today, so, I thought if I started changing things around in the house, maybe I'd get out of hibernation mode.
I went into the living room and saw the Christmas poinsettias...still there.
Yes, I know it's February, but the dratted things just won't die, and I don't have the heart to throw them on the compost pile...just yet.
OK, maybe I can use them for a breakfast table arrangement.

I grabbed the tartan throw I recently found at a thrift store, and started setting the table. Then I remembered the cute set of snowman bowls we received as a hostess gift during Christmas.

They're stacking bowls and different sizes, but for cereal that's ok...Hubby likes a large bowl of cereal anyway.

The little bowl is mine. I'll probably use it for a small fruit bowl.

As you can see, I tucked the poinsettias in a large mixing bowl, added some Spanish moss and placed a larger plate underneath it. Then, I added a couple of candles, and that was it.
I'm starting to feel sleepy again, and that blanket looks so soft and  warm...I'll just snuggle down for a minute...just for a minute...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.  :)

  I'll be joining these parties:

Between Naps On The Porch for Tablescape Thursday
No Minimalist Here for Open House Party
The Thrifty Groove for Thrifty Things Friday
The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sunday

  1. Hi Babs, that's cute as can be! I can't believe your Poinsettia looks that good, you must have a wonderful green thumb. Any houseplant I've ever had has suffered from my neglect! I love the little snowmen bowls!

  4. Your table setting is very cheerful and wintry looking! All that's missing is a fireplace beside the table and hot coco in the mugs. I'm hoping for an early Spring too!

  9. Can't believe you found the blanket at GW. Amazing. It's gray and damp here too. Not that cold but the dampness goes right through you. You are nice to set such a fun table for your husband. We usually eat in front of the TV. :o)

  14. Cute table...love the snowmen plates. The tartan throw makes a great tablecloth.

I have tried so many times to keep a poinsettia alive, they die almost as soon as I bring them into the house.

  18. For heaven's sake...what are you FEEDING those things?!??!?!! They look better than brand new!!! Look at the color!!! Mine still looked really great, too, but I finally bid them adieu a couple of weeks ago. Sad to see them go. I should have just stuck them in the window of a seldom-used room and done an experiment on just how long they could survive. Maybe next year! Meanwhile, great winter table and the tartain throw makes it look EXTRA inviting and warm!

  21. A very sweet winter table. My poinsettias won't die either. Not that I really want them to. It's just that they're beginning to look a little out of place. I still have a poinsettia plant from three years ago. It looks like bonsai. Ha!

  25. Babs,
When the weather gets like that on the Prairie...I head to the lower level living area. Few windows...so I don't know what the weather is doing. Creating in the Art Studio with the Classical Music...I can lose track of time!
    Fondly,

  26. Hi Babs,

Your poinsettia still looks amazing! I've stopped buying them because mine barely last until Christmas. I don't have the right kind of light for them in our house.

Your winter table looks so cozy and inviting; the snowmen bowls are adorable. I'm thoroughly enjoying all the beautiful tartan plaids that I've been seeing everywhere this winter.

    Happy Seasonal Sunday!

It is sunny and crisp here in NY, hope you are getting some better weather.
