The Weekend...Down South

Yesterday and today we've been working in the yard adding cypress mulch, weeding and doing Spring maintenance.
The weather has been so warm for the last week or so, and almost everything is in bloom here in Georgia. While I was taking a break, I took a few photos. Hope you enjoy them.

This is an American dogwood we planted as a twig in 2001. It didn't bloom for several years, but look at her now.

This blossom is from a wild dogwood in the side yard.

The first blooms this year from Madame Alfred Carriere climbing rose...partially open...

...and here fully open...

...and Deutzia gracillis...sorry, I don't know the common name for it.  If you know please email me, 'cause I always get funny looks when I give the botanical names for plants.

Thanks for visiting my garden...actually, it's more a yard than a garden, but somehow garden sounds so much nicer.
I'm going now to put my feet up. My legs are sore from weeding, planting and putting out the mulch.
Hope you have a great Sunday.

How beautiful your garden grows Babs. I've planted many twigs only to move away and leave them. We are a long way from a mature garden here. Your Dogwood was worth the wait. So beautiful. Madame alfred Carriere is a beauty, and I love the color. Wish I could help you on the while Deutzia gracillis, I don't know the common name either, but it is lovely. Thanks for the help with the Japanese Kerria, exactly right.
Hope your Sunday is lovely.

Your flowers look so pretty. That dogwood is quite a standout! Loving how pretty everything looks right now. Not enjoying my new sinus infection that I now have as a result. I'm having a pity party today. My black dog comes in looking yellow from all the pollen. This has got to be the worst pollen outbreak ever!

Everything is blooming like crazy up here too. I heard the dogwood are blooming at the lake. There is a Dogwood Festival in April, every year. That is when they usually bloom!

Gorgeous photos, Babs.

Oh my, everything looks amazing. So pretty. We have a ton of weeds to take care of and a lot of yard work to do.

Thanks for the visit. I got a real kick out of your comment on the frames. I am sure if we lived closer to each other we would have a ball shopping. Hugs, Marty

Hi Babs, I've been reading through your blog this afternoon and thinks its wonderful. and I think I may be able to help with the common name of Deutzia gracillis. It's common name is the Japanese snow-flower, quite a nice name too.
All the best from your newest follower from the UK.
