New Jersey road trip...Part 3
Preview of Revel...Atlantic City's newest $2.4 billion resort...yes, I said billion!
The Revel is 47 stories high, the 2nd tallest building in New Jersey, smoke free and very modern.
It has 10 pools, 14 restaurants and 3 live entertainment venues.
The resort also features a 2-acre landscaped rooftop deck with pools, cabanas, fire pits and the Sky Garden containing over 30,000 trees and plants.

It was foggy, and not a good day for photos.
There were a lot of the outdoor areas still under construction, and they were working on the beach, which had been damaged from storms in recent years.
You can see how the Army Corps of Engineers is replenishing and repairing the beach HERE.

Now, to see a little of the interior decor.
...the largest lamp I've ever seen. The lamp shade looked like it was made of fabric.
Red leather sofas and doors leading to other meeting rooms. This was just one of many areas for meetings.
I think the designer(s) had a thing for fabric covered lighting fixtures...
The resort is huge...6.3 million square feet.
This is a rather playful seating area that's near the pool entrance...I think.
The rugs reminded me of the pizza we had just enjoyed at Tony Boloney's.
The round glass table in the foreground has a clear ball in the center, with a cactus growing out of rocks.
This area reminded me of something from The Jetsons.
Poolside, the seating was neat. You can see the cranes below, still working on the beach.
Sleek, modern chaises for sun bathing...
...and lots of reflective glass.

This photo is from their website. The blue areas running between the plants are small tiles, that water will be flowing over like a river. I'd love to see this at night.
We wandered around like a bunch of tourists, and even though there were a lot of workers putting final touches on things for the opening, we still had a fun time looking at everything.
Oh, and Beyonce' will be opening in the 5,050 seat theater on Memorial Day weekend. Whoo! Hoo!
Rooms start at just under $400 on week nights, and up to $800 on the weekend. High roller suites?? Well, since I'm not a "high roller", I guess I'll never know.
Hope y'all have a great week,
Babs

Very modern as you said. Kind of reminds me of a large cruise ship I was on but bigger of course.
ReplyDeleteWow, Babs! Amazing...so futuristic and so pretty! Great photos! Looks like you had a great trip! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHI Babs! Oh, my goodness! What a place this must be! It does look like a cruise ship! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That is cool! Really lovin' the outdoor areas and can only imagine how fun the fire pits would be! Yep "modern" seems the perfect word to describe the decor:@)
ReplyDeleteWell, that is just so amazing! It looks sort of like a city of the future or something, doesn't it? I am crazy about that outside shot with the water all blending together.
ReplyDeletePretty amazing architecture and interiors!
ReplyDeleteWow. Babs the photo of the enormous Lotus blossom ceiling-light-shade-thingy is wonderful. The sky gardens look very pretty. The great thing about all these resorts is even humble minions like me can visit and at least have a coffee or a cocktail to appreciate a slice of the life of a high roller.
ReplyDeleteYou must have had a lovely time having a nose round before the opening day.

Oh my! That's an amazing place! That giant lamp is the coolest! The outdoor space is a great idea! What a neat place to visit!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

Good heavens, that's a lot of contemporary to digest!!!! It would really be fun to stay there for a week, though! :-) I would LOVE to have a house big enough for one of those huge lamps! Those are pretty cool!!!
ReplyDeleteHi darling, oh my goodness. This is one huge building. Like you I'm not a "high roller" so won't be spending a night anytime soon underneath that beautiful roof. I was fun to see through your eyes and camera.
ReplyDeletehugs ~lynne~
WOW! What an magical place. I can see why it cost bllions with a capital "B".
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your roadtrip.
Blessings, Ginger
That looks like some resort. I guess you and I both will never stay there...darn it....it just isn't in my budget. LOL
ReplyDeleteWow! These are truly amazing shots! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! I don't think I'll be visiting soon :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely modern decor!
ReplyDeleteIncredible!!! I just hope with the economy, the resort makes a profit. Guess that's what it's all about...profit.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I think the outdoor images are super....fog is a favorite weather phenomenon for me.
Incredible place. I love the style and colors...amazing!
ReplyDeleteWe used to go to Atlantic City back in the 60's and I loved the diving horse. I need to go back now that it has a new life (the beach, not the horse).
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the wonderful pictures. I would like to offer some background information. I am actually the designer/architect of the fabric covered flower petal lighting fixture with the changing lights. It was a challenging but fun design problem that I worked on among other things for the Revel project. The idea was to treat the space as if vines were growing on the walls (light coves embedded in wood paneled walls) into the ceiling culminating in the dramatic flower. I was laid off after this project after four years working for this firm, also on a Casino project in Las Vegas. I had to leave my intellectual property (this work for example) behind, when I left. I am now setting up my own design and architecture firm hoping to continue on work that has the power to inspire and delight.
