A Squirrel Followed Me Home

On Friday, a little gray squirrel followed me home from my neighbor's yard sale.

He's on the little end table in the family room, munching on an acorn and...

...I think he's eyeing the dried corn in the transferware bowl.

I hope he doesn't decide to gnaw on the mug of branch pencils that I'm using for a bookend.

Dinner by candle light. :)

Speaking of little furry critters, Hubby was in the back yard the other day when a chipmunk ran up his pants leg and under his jacket. Naturally, he came in the house to tell me, with the chipmunk still in his jacket! After I calmly asked him to go back outside, and take his jacket off, I managed to grab my camera and get a couple of photos. Sorry they are a bit blurry, I was in a hurry to snap the pics.

It didn't seem to be afraid...Hubby actually touched it! Ick!

It finally jumped down and ran into the bushes...thank goodness. Hubby was just glad it didn't run up inside his pants leg. LOL

In spite of all my silliness, we're wishing all who were in the path of Sandy a quick recovery to normal days. Our son and his family were so lucky. They live near Atlantic City, and had a few trees down...one on their garage, but I think they didn't have too much damage. They still don't have power, but we're so thankful for their safety.
Hugs to all,
Babs

The squirrel is cute and stationary unlike Mr. Chipmonk. Thankful your son and his family weathered the storm.

Babs,
So~o~o grateful your son and his family are safe!!!
This story of the chipmunk is so cute!!! Perhaps the chipmunk was looking for a warm and safe haven for the upcoming cooler weather? LOVE the squirrel from your neighbor's garage $ale!!! "Mr. Ed" has a real squirrel that frequents the bird feeders here on the Prairie...named him "Fred"!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Hello Babs, What a relief for you knowing your son and his family are safe from that dreadful storm.

I showed my husband the photos of the chipmunk on your husband's jacket and we laughed....maybe the chipmunk was wanting to visit your new squirrel! Have a lovely day. Best Wishes Daphne

Love the new squirrel. I like it looks like he already got a hold of the pencils. Cute chipmunk. Didn't know they climb up people.

Babs, so glad to hear the good news about your son and his family. Such a scary storm. My godson and family in NYC are safe and have power. Kathleen on Long Island is safe. Still haven't heard form some others.
Can't imagine that the critter climbed up in his jacket. I would have screamed, and it probably would have bitten me! Funny story!
Love your fall vignette with the new little guy. I have a box of those pencils. Should pull them out and use them in clever way as you have done.........Sarah

That is so funny about a chipmunk running up your husbands legs! That would've scared me to death to have that happen to me. Cute story about the chipmunk! Your squirrel is so cute!
Glad to hear your son and his family fared well in this terrible storm. My nephew's home in Connecticut was hit by a big tree and it made it into their bedroom. No one was hurt thank goodness.

I love every single thing in your wonderful vignette! I may be slightly partial to squirrels and transfer ware. And chipmunks... Wonderful post!

Love your little squirrel vignette by candlelight. The chipmunk on the other hand I don't love. My Mom used to feed one by hand on her deck, but I don't want them that close to me. And not in my jacket for sure.

Glad to hear your family were not too badly affected by the storm. Miss Babs when your husband is in distress, being attacked by viscous snarling tree mammals, I love your first port of call.....to grab your camera! Well done ten house points! :) x

I would have been FREAKING OUT!!!!! I don't know how your husband remained calm enough to just sachet into the house and tell you about it. I would have applied the old Stop, Drop & Roll which would have had devastating consequences since that's supposed to be for fires and not live animals!!! Good thinking to grab the camera for this hilarious Kodak moment!
