Happy Hallowthanksmas Cactus

My Christmas cactus decided to set buds just before Halloween, and now, it's almost in full bloom, with two weeks left til Thanksgiving.

I put it on the entry chest...next to the bench with my new fabric Thanksgiving pumpkin.

The pumpkin came from an antique/decor store, and I really like how it looks with the bench and pillows...but...

...it's not exactly Thanksgiving colors. I'm not sure it goes with the red Christmas cactus, but I love it anyway...

Getting back to the cactus, maybe I should call it a "holiday cactus"  since it can't decide what holiday it wants to bloom.

Also on the chest, my little spaniels sit on a red tartan book, and a hunt scene picture behind. That works with the red cactus...sort of.

I know, I'm jumping all around, but that's sort of how I feel.  Halloween is over, I haven't finished decorating for Thanksgiving,  and I'm already thinking about Christmas
Has the Happy Hallowthanksmas bug bitten y'all yet?..or it's cousin, the Merry Thanksgivoween bug?

Hopefully, I'll get organized. My family and guests will be here in nine days...so I'd better a move on.
Oh, and I'm working on a little tablescape for the kids' table for Thanksgiving
Hopefully, I'll get that finished today, so I can show you on my next post. :)

Hugs, and have a great weekend,
Babs

Hi Babs!
My mom has a few of these cacti, and there are three kinds."Around the holidays, we often see blooming plants that are members of the cactus family. The Thanksgiving cactus (Schlumbergera truncata), the Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera bridgesii), and the Easter cactus (Rhipsalidopsis gaetneri) all look alike. The main difference between the Christmas and Thanksgiving cactus, and the Easter cactus is the time of bloom."

SO.. What is your mystery cactus?

It looks beautiful, Babs, and everything works great together. I think your "Holiday" cactus is gorgeous. Mine is choosing not to bloom this year, but it bloomed for Easter one year -- go figure!

Babs, the whole vignette is great. What a pretty cactus. I had one and killed it. I just don't have a green thumb with cacti or succulents. I guess I over water.

Memories. My grandmother used to raise the most beautiful Christmas cactus. Yours is gorgeous. I am anxious for Christmas:) xo

Babs, your cactus is gorgeous. Who really cares when it blooms if it performs like this. I rarely have luck getting them to bloom again the following year. That is if they survive a year with me. ;-)
Of course I love the tartan book and those sweet pups.

I love it and your new term! I'm in the same mental mode. I refuse to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving but it is on my mind. Hooray on the Christmas Cactus! Mine has little red spots but hasn't developed into anything yet. Love your pumpkin pillow- the fabrics on it are great!

Love that little fabric pumpkin. I had a Christmas cactus that always bloomed early too. I am really a tartan plaid book fan. Very decorative and red, my favorite color.

Babs,
ANYTHING that blooms On Crooked Creek is a welcomed sight!!! Lovely hue on your "Holiday" catcus! I think your pumpkin looks adorable on the bench!!! It blends all the hues in your entry together well! Love the dogs and the hunting theme with the tartan plaid! Have a fabulous weekend getting ready for your Thanksgiving guest!!!
Fondly,
Pat
P.S. Do I dare tell you I just came up from the lower living family room where I decorated the top of the red cabinet and dressed the table for our Progressive Christmas Brunch??? No...we'd better keep that to ourselves a while longer!!! (Ha!)

Hi Babs,
I usually do not decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. This is our off year and none of our children will be here so I am chomping at the bits to start pulling out Christmas. Think I will start. Love, love your pumpkin! It does look so cute there by your pillow. I think the cactus helps pull out the bit of red. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
Hugs,
Jann
