What Shade of Red Is It?

I'm sooo glad Halloween is over. I've taken down the decorations and thought I'd look for something to show you before I start getting out the faux turkeys. I can't believe my son and his family will be here in less than two weeks! Yay! Can't wait to see the Grands.

Anyway, a few months ago, I found this Bordallo Pinheiro beet vase in a flea-tique mall. I wasn't going to buy it, because I didn't think I had anything it would work with.  Hubby actually talked me into getting it.

Because it's so unusual, I couldn't decide what flowers to put in it. Then, I realized we had mums out in the yard that were about the same color.

Believe it or not, last week, I was in TJMaxx...again...and saw this Bordallo platter. Yay...same color!
Looking around the house, I remembered my red transferware...

...and I lucked out, because even the stripes on the napkins are  a dark red.

I've never used this shade of red much, but now, I think I'm beginning to like it more and more...whatever it's called.
What do you think? Beet? Plum? Bordallo Burgundy? :)

Sorry I haven't been blogging much lately, but my old faithful computer has finally refused to work, so I'm trying to "get the hang" of photo uploading, editing, etc. on my laptop. When I bought my laptop, I didn't realize it didn't have a little slot for my camera card, and I had to buy a thingy to put the card in, and then plug into the usb port. This probably isn't a big deal for most of you, but my computer skills are really basic. :) You can stop laughing  now. :)

Anyway, enough of my whining. My computer "challenge" is a trivial thing when so many people are in desperate situations in the aftermath of Sandy.
Hugs and prayers for all, and thanks for your prayers for our son and his family, who live near Atlantic City. They were so fortunate that they didn't have any serious damage, or long term power outage.

Hi Babs! Glad your family is safe. This has been so scary.
Now that is an unusual vase, but I love it! Your mums are perfect in it. Love your platter and transferware. Let's bring on Thanksgiving now!

Babs, glad your husband talked you into buying the vase. It is beautiful and unusual. The mums look great in this piece! I'm rather fond of this color red. Your new plate is gorgeous. I recently found a green Bordallo square footed cake plate. It jumped right into my basket! ~ Sarah

Babs, love the shape of your unique vase. Aren't you glad your hubby talked you into buying it?
I always transfer my pictures directly from the camera, so much easier than taking the memory card out and putting it back in each time.

That is a beautiful vase! It looks so pretty with the red dishes you used with it. That is such a pretty shade of red. Don't feel bad about your computer skills, I'm the same way. I use our desktop computer to load pics on. I've never tried it on our laptop before. I'm sure I would be in the same position as you trying it for the first time!

I, too, have a "camera card thingy", but it is plugged into my desktop. I couldn't even begin to tell you whether or not my laptop has such an accommodation! I know just enough about computers to be dangerous! :-) I'm totally lovin' on that base...and you found it at an antique mall??? Wow! Good eye, and kudos to hubby for "encouraging" you...as if it took that hard of a push to get you to agree! ;-) Happy to hear that your family members on the coast are OK.

Babs,
Kudos to your husband...I agree you needed this vase and the platter! Both look amazing with your other red & white accessories!!! I most often refer to this hue as Cranberry; however, I vote for Bordallo Burgundy. Love the way it rolls of my tongue!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Good Afternoon Babs, I love the name "Bordallo Pinheiro" Beet vase. I have never heard of this designer, but shall be looking him up. It really is unusual and quirky...I love it. I would call that shade of red burgundy, a colour I love. Computers are wonderful when they work, but when they play up it's a nightmare. Good luck with your "thingy". I'm glad to hear your son and family are safe and sound. It has been awful hearing how much people have suffered. Our hearts certainly go out to everyone. Best Wishes Daphne
