Moravian Stars

Many years ago, our daughter-in-law Karin, came to visit us for Thanksgiving. At that time she had just started dating our son, and when they arrived, I'd been trying to make paper Moravian stars...with no success. I had the strips of paper cut, but after about  half an hour of trying to figure out how to make them, I gave up.
Karin volunteered to try, saying she remembered making them as a child. She looked at the directions, and in a little while, she'd made several.

The Moravian stars that she made are some of my favorite ornaments.

This year, I watched with a smile, as our younger grandson, now 18 months old, placed the stars on our Christmas tree.

Wishing you the simple joys of  Christmas.
Hugs,
Babs

  5. Good Morning Babs, It is lovely to see you again. Your grandson is gorgeous and he looks like he is concentrating very hard to hang that Christmas decoration onto the tree. The stars are beautiful. Have a wonderful day. Best Wishes Daphne

  8. Such a timely post, Babs! I had some clear acrylic ones in my most recent post that I described as "3-D", and Jewel of Carolina Jewel's Table told me the name of them. I had never heard that term (or at least I don't remember it!), so I received a bit of an education this weekend. To see these constructed of paper is really cool! I don't know that I would have the patience to make them, but I'll bet I could bribe a couple of tweeners I know into performing the task! :-)

  9. How precious Babs :-)
Love the picture of your grandson near the treee...that's a treasured photo! I have some of those stars my aunt made with ribbon for placecards for one of our Christmas gatherings. I have a whole box full of the placecards she made for the family each year. Seeing this picture eminded me of them!
