Catch Him!

I'm a little late getting my post finished. This morning, I started  "greening" the house for St. Patrick's Day.

On one shelf in the entertainment center, I added a few green and Irish themed books...and a candle holder with Celtic designs on it.

On another shelf, are more green books.... and what in the world is that???...OMGosh!..it's a Leprechaun!!!

Where on earth did he come from? I looked again and blinked...and he was gone!
Well, that was a surprise...very strange.
I got back to changing things, and turned around...and...

...there he was, on the wall sconce!

Oh, no... not again.  Maybe if I ignore him, he'll go away.

I've been trying to stay out of the kitchen this morning because we have some  guys working on our kitchen door, replacing the framing and weather stripping.
Hmmmm, maybe they let the Leprechaun in.
I went upstairs to see if they were about finished, and when I asked them if they'd seen a little green man, they just gave me the strangest look...and said, "No, ma'am".
Oh, well! I started back downstairs again, and there, on the breakfast table...

...was the Leprechaun,...ridding  the shabby rabbit

Well, guess I'd better set a trap, and see if I can catch him.
If y'all know any good ways to catch a Leprechaun, please let me know.

Thanks for indulging all my silliness. I'm going to see if I can get our almost 4-year-old grandson to look for...and try to catch...a Leprechaun, too.  I'm taking photos of the Leprechaun with things or places he'll recognize from our house.

Here's the Leprechaun with our grandson's soccer ball that he plays with when he visits. I'll take some more photos every few days to send him.
I don't know if it'll be fun for him...but it sure will be for me. :)
Thanks for stopping by. I can't wait to see what y'all are doing for St. Patrick's Day.

Shabby Rabbit

It's been gorgeous today. Sunny and in the 70s. Love it!
I finally decided I couldn't stand the poinsettias any longer, and even though they still looked good, I threw 'em out.
Hubby felt sorry for them and rescued (his word) them to decorate the shed.
What-evaAt least I don't have to look at them any more.

I'm so ready for Spring, and all the stores are showing Easter things.
Monday, when I was at Marshall's, I found a cute rustic shabby rabbit, all by himself, with no price tag, and no more like him...don't you just hate it when that happens?
I stood in line waiting for a manager to find a price, and when she finally came back, and said, "$4.99"... I said, "yes!!!," and brought  him home.

He has a little bit of a dry brushed finish to give him that shabby rabbit look.

He's so cute... he just makes me smile. I wish I could have found a larger one to go with him. I checked again today at Marshall's, and also at Home Goods. No luck.
It seems strange that he would have been an "only".

Breakfast is ready. Hope y'all like cereal.

Thanks for stopping by. I always appreciate your visits.

Winter Breakfast Table

All week, I've had the feeling that all I want to do is snuggle up in a blanket and hibernate.
It's cold and rainy today, so, I thought if I started changing things around in the house, maybe I'd get out of hibernation mode.
I went into the living room and saw the Christmas poinsettias...still there.
Yes, I know it's February, but the dratted things just won't die, and I don't have the heart to throw them on the compost pile...just yet.
OK, maybe I can use them for a breakfast table arrangement.

I grabbed the tartan throw I recently found at a thrift store, and started setting the table. Then I remembered the cute set of snowman bowls we received as a hostess gift during Christmas.

They're stacking bowls and different sizes, but for cereal that's ok...Hubby likes a large bowl of cereal anyway.

The little bowl is mine. I'll probably use it for a small fruit bowl.

As you can see, I tucked the poinsettias in a large mixing bowl, added some Spanish moss and placed a larger plate underneath it. Then, I added a couple of candles, and that was it.
I'm starting to feel sleepy again, and that blanket looks so soft and  warm...I'll just snuggle down for a minute...just for a minute...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.  :)

A Few More Trays

Hey, Thanks for all the nice comments on the trays. Before I put them away, I'll show you a few more...

I'm thinking about adding a new color for Spring in the master bedroom and bath.  I want to use turquoise with the taupe and cream that I already have there.
So far, this is all the turquoise I have...

...Hmmm. I can't decide...I  like this shade, but maybe it should be a bit softer.

Oh, well,on to the next tray...

How's this for brown stuff on a brown tray on a brown table?...and just a smidge of green. This one's on the living room coffee table.

Definitely woodland.  Oh, the little shriveled ball in the bird's nest is a dried hedge apple from my hedge apple fever post... and a bit of moss. It's amazing how much the hedge apple shrank.

I really like the reindeer moss...so much color and texture.

The drinks tray in the living room is very basic. It doesn't get much use, as you can see, the "cupboard" is a little bare...

...but the stag's head stirrup cup is waiting, if you'd like a drink.

Here's the last tray with a few chocolates just waiting for you. Would you like tea or coffee with them? They're really yummy.

It's supposed to be cold tonight, so y'all take care, stay warm and have a great weekend.
Hugs, Babs

Do y'all love trays?
I do, and I didn't realize just how many I had till I started rearranging  the pantry and closets yesterday.
I guess I sort of take them for granted, but when I think about it, it's amazing how much trays are a part of my home, both for function and "style".
Here are a few of them...some you may have seen before, so I tried to gussy them up...or unload them for the photos.

I've had these bamboo trays so long that they're back in style!
Does my tray look vaguely familiar?

I did an OMG and a giggle when I saw the February issue of the Pottery Barn catalog.
That's my tray!...I mean...their  tray.

Ok, their sofa and pillows are prettier than mine, but I had my trays first!!  :)
Would you believe I bought them in the late 1990s?
You can see them a little better in a post I did last March, called True Confessions...click here to see it in case you missed it.

I don't use this tole tray a lot...except for decoration. It lives on the shelf in the laundry/storage closet, and it's always so cheery when I open the doors to do laundry.

This tray is made from birch bark and twigs, and I use it in Winter to set my plants near the sun. I took the other pots off so you can see the neat look of the bark.

Look!! a little Ladybug was on my plant, and I have no clue where it came from. The plants have been in the house the whole time...except for the moss.
Since it's so warm here today, I put the ladybug outside on some bushes. Hope she likes it out there.

I've got this teak sandwich tray when we lived in Germany.
It's just the right size for crackers and cheese.
Do you recognize the cute tea towel with it?

It was a gift from Debbie @ Confessions of A Plate Addict and I LOVE it!  Thanks Debbie.

Here's the last one I'll show you for today. Don't want to bore you to tears.
This is one we use on top of an old table in the family room. The tray should have legs, but since I found it at GW, none were with it. I'm not really complaining, since it only cost $6. So, I'll keep looking for legs, or a different table, but for now it serves the purpose.

That's it for now.  I'll show you more trays another time.

Daphne and Daffodils

Hey, y'all.
It's been so warm here in Georgia; it really feels like Spring is here. Yesterday, I worked in the yard a bit, and pruned the Natchez crepe myrtle in the front yard. Hubby trimmed the monkey grass, thank goodness...not one of my favorite things to do.
I've been putting off pruning, because I was afraid we'd get a freeze. But, our  Georgia groundhog, General Beauregard Lee, said we'll have an early Spring, so I guess I'm ok.

Our Winter Daphne, out back by the shed, and the daffodils in the side yard, have started blooming. The fragrance of the daphne is heavenly; so, I cut some and added a few of the daffodils, for my bedside table.

I won't show you the rest of  the bedroom, since it really isn't blog ready... you know...I haven't ironed the sheets and pillowcases or  straightened the rest of the room.

This little majolica pitcher is one of my favorite antique store finds. I don't know the pattern or maker, but I just love it.

I wish you could smell the wonderful fragrance.

Hope you have beautiful weather and a great weekend.
