Fun Fall Lampshade Magnets

Hi, Y'all!
I intended to show you the Fall wreath I've been working on, but I got sidetracked after seeing a magnetic lampshade brooch at Kirkland's. Click here to see their brooch. Theirs was really pretty, but I wanted some with a little less sparkle, so here's what I made.

These are so easy to make. I already had everything I needed...so actually, they were free!
The sunflower and leaf took about a minute each to make.
Here's how I made them.

One burlap sunflower pick, and round magnets from the craft store...

Turn the sunflower over and pull out the pick from the flower, then cut off the little plastic part in the center that sticks up.

Hot glue a magnet to the back. My flower wasn't really flat, so I just stacked on another magnet to make it higher...no need to glue it to the other magnet.
When the glue is dry, just hold the flower to the lampshade and place another magnet behind it, on the inside of the shade, to hold it.

The leaf was even easier...just a dab of hot glue on the back of a faux leaf to hold the magnet, and a second magnet on the inside of the shade to hold it in place.

The leopard print rosette took about 15 minutes...well, maybe 20 minutes, because I hadn't made a rosette in a while, and was all thumbs.

Choose the ribbon and button(s) you like.
Make the rosette by looping the ribbon into a rosette shape, and hold all the loops in place with a straight pin in the center.

Then stitch the center, through all the loops, with needle and thread.
Tip...don't remove the pin until you have stitched the loops in place.

I added a second button on top, for more dimension, and to pick up the color of the leopard print. The top button had a shank, so I stitched it, but you could hot glue it, if you wish.
Glue a magnet on the back of the rosette, and you're all done.

You could also use these magnet cuties on a table cloth edge, or to jazz up curtains.
Hope you enjoy making some. I'd love to see your creations.

Hugs,
Babs
