We're hosting a Christmas party the first weekend in December, and I've been thinking about how to decorate. Gosh, six weeks? I'd better get busy!
My Christmas cactus has been on the deck all Summer, and when I looked at it the other day, it was covered with buds.
I'm calling it a "Hallow-thanks-mas" cactus.
Other new things around the house...
...I bought two new things...a new tassel and a rectangular clear glass dish.
In case you're wondering why the tassel is on the dish...well, this morning was really cloudy, so I put it there, so you could see the color better.
Here it is on the secretary. I had to turn on the light for this pic.
Love the little clear beads on the ribbons and on the top.
I put a little Fall grouping by the wing chair in the living room.
Here's one other project we've been working on this week.
Sunday, we piled the deck furniture in a corner and scrubbed the deck, getting ready to stain it again...and wouldn't you know...it rained, so we had to wait.
Today, the weather was warm and sunny, so we stained most of the deck. It has to dry 24 hours, and then we'll just have to move the chairs back, and finish the corner, steps, spindles and railing.
Whew! I'll be glad when we're finished. I'm keeping my eye on the weather report.
Hope y'all are having a good week. Are y'all thinking about Christmas yet?

Love the tassel! I'm behind on putting our outside stuff away for the upcoming winter season. We had a lot of rain recently and nothing could be done outside. I hope you can get your deck staining done- it's a big job!
Love your pretty tassel. I juse cleaned off our patio and washed all the furniture. This is our time of year to really enjoy it, not so hot. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
Thats a good name for your christmas cactus. I have been looking at christmas books and magazines to get some ideas. Need to start shopping!
Please come stain our deck. I think ours is going to fall off the house. All that rain we had in the spring had me worried about it. I need a staff. Hope you are having a good week, olive
Not thinking about Christmas yet. I'm just getting into the fall mode. Ha!
Rain, rain, and more rain here tonight. You were right about the weather. '-)
Babs your vignettes look beautiful!!
Babs,
Am I thinking Christmas yet???
Yes, I am!!!
Already have my color palette and many of the accessories organized. I've even sketched a few vignettes!!!
On the years that we host Christmas, I have my first tree up on Halloween (lower level Living Room), but this year we host Thanksgiving!!!
I love the new tassel, dear friend!!!
The vignette on the living room table near the Wing Chair is stunning!!!
Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Your tassel is beautiful! A nice prize for all of your hard work on the deck :^)
I AM thinking about Christmas!! We have a series of parties (I am a church music minister, so we have people over all during the season) so I had better get over thinking and get busy doing!! Fortunately I am old and stuck in a rut, so Christmas deco is a matter of putting Christmas things in "their" places! However, there are a LOT of Christmas "things". Back to getting busy........
Blessings to you,
J
