Sorry, all y'all up North. I know you've had this mess all winter.
For something not weather related, let me show you what I found...
...another alabaster lamp. Yay!
I've been wanting another one for our bedroom, and finally found this one, last week.
I looked and looked for a linen shade, but no luck. So, the hunt is still on.
I found this vintage Haeger vase to add to my collection of white vases. It was half price at a consignment shop. Love half price!
I've been playing with faux succulents in the living room.
I just realized I have white dots on this pic...hmmm. Don't know how that happened. Weird.
My tulips are still pretty. Love them.
Well, back to the weather...storm prep...
...I baked an Impossible Coconut Pie, a chicken and dressing casserole, and stocked up on soup and sandwich fixin's.
The weather report says we could have power outages for several days, up to a week!
We have an electric stove and no barbecue grill, so I got out the chafing dish and cans of sterno. Don't laugh. :)
Please say a prayer for us down here in the South.

I love your new finds, especially the lamp. I found an alabaster candy dish with little birds sitting on it like a bird bath and I treasured it. It was found on one of my first antiquing trips long ago and I have no idea what happened to it.
I've heard about what all of you down south are expecting. I know it has been very bad here in the Midwest, but we are always prepared, and you guys have been taken by surprise a few times this winter. Can you possibly get out and get a little charcoal grill? I guess the only other thing I could suggest is to have lots of bread and crackers, peanut butter, fruit, water...oh, now I am worked up!!
Stay safe, Babs.
XO,
Jane
Great finds, Babs! We are all bundled up in North Texas tonight. The roads are already starting to ice over.
The alabaster lamp is gorgeous! I'm used to extreme Winter conditions, living up here in Canada. My advice is to stay off the roads as much as you can.
Oh my goodness, the base of that lamp is simply gorgeous! What a treasure. BTW, I'm having a 2-day, 2-soap giveaway on my blog today and tomorrow only. Be sure to enter if you're interested in homemade, vegan luxury soaps. :-)
I'm not laughing and you sound prepared. We will just walk to your house to eat. :)
I hope things don't get that bad for you guys...stay safe and warm Babs! You are so lucky finding yet another alabaster lamp...I love it!
I have never seen a lamp like yours, it's beautiful! Stay safe and warm.
Be safe, Babs! Stay warm. I love your alabaster lamp.
I heard the news about your weather. I hope this time it won't be as bad or at least the preparations they are taking will help a lot.
Your lamp is beautiful! I made that coconut pie recently too! Yum yum!
Loving all the treasures!
NOT loving the news of yet another storm. My poor husband has had to reschedule an important appointment for the third time now because the Atlanta folks don't think they will make it to Albany because of this storm.
We don't do winter well in Dixie, do we? Frankly, I don't WANT the practice if you know what I mean.
Stay warm and safe!
Love your white finds! I hope that you will not lose power. Stay safe and warm.
I am praying none of us have the power ourages, last week we lost ours for 34 hours. NOT fun! You sound very prepared, that pie looks SO good. Stay safe and warm.
Beautiful lamp! You have some really pretty white pieces.
Stay safe and warm -- we are all tucked in here in Bham, but what we have so far is very cold rain. I suppose it will freeze.
I think you've thought of everything! I'm hoping that we don't lose power. That is my biggest fear! We have wood ready for the fireplace and we do have a gas stove for cooking. But, it will still not be any fun no matter how prepared we are! I'm not the "camping" type. So, being without amenities is hard on me! My husband will not be home with us either because of working at the fire station. Double yikes! Love your alabaster lamp that you found! I love those. I also like your succulents in the apothecary jar. Stay warm and safe!
Sounds like you are as ready as can be!!! Along with the chafing dish, sterno I also use a fondue pot. Make sure you have plenty of batteries too and stay home!!! Be safe....
The alabaster lamp is a great find. They sell for a huge price in antique stores. I have found two and was happy when I did. I sure hope we do not loose power. xo, olive
Oh,I hope you don't loose power! You sound as if you will eat well. That pie is beautiful. Hope it is not as bad as predicted. After last time they are probably overly cautious.
I love your new finds. The alabaster lamp is very nice. Usually the good ones are very expensive. I am sure you will find the perfect lampshade. I really like your white vase and glad it was a bargain. They are getting harder and harder to find.
Keep us posted about your weather if you have power. In south Alabama our forecast is just rain at the moment.
Please believe me when I say I am NOT making light of your weather situation. I know it's going to be another bad one if the weather guessers are on target, and I feel for you guys from the bottom of my heart. On the subject of the grill, though....Ramon & I were laughing about that earlier when we heard someone say that on the evening news. Seriously? Go outside in the frigid cold and ice to try to use a grill? Uh.....NO! I like your idea of the chafing dish MUCH better. You need to contact your local news station and throw that idea out to all the citizenry so they're not out there knockin' their noggins on concrete in a fall trying to cook on a grill!!!!!!! Seriously, though, I feel for you guys. It's been rough this year even on those of us who are used to it.
GREAT find on the lamp! I hope you're soon able to find a reasonably priced shade that suits you. The lamp is really pretty.
YOUR PIE!!! Get down, Babs!!! That is really tasty looking! I'd almost hop a plane for that!!!
Love what you're doing with the succulents! They're in my long-term planning ideas for summer on the main floor of the house. You've done some neat stuff with yours!
Stay warm, stay calm, and stay OFF a grill!!! :-)
Babs,
Lovely new lamp, dear friend!!!
I'm quite smitten with your Haeger white vase find!!!
I have two in turquoise in the guest room. They have the softest finish!
Be safe, stay warm and prayers coming your way that your power stays on!!!
Fondly,
Pat
That's a beautiful alabaster lamp Babs -- what a great find!! All your vignettes look so pretty. I've seen a lot of the faux succulents at Home Goods and can't believe how realistic they look.
Your coconut pie looks wonderful! I'm kind of nervous about this storm; we've heard such dire predictions. Ours is supposed to get here tomorrow afternoon. You're smart to be so prepared. I've stocked up on groceries but haven't cooked anything yet. Stay warm and safe!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
The new "old" lamp is gorgeous -- good luck on finding the perfect shade! Y'all have really had some awful weather. It looks like you are prepared, at least as well as you can be. I won't tell you what our weather is like -- it might be considered "cruel!" Stay warm & safe, Babs!
Prayers said, dear lady. We are having freezing rain right not but it is not supposed to last. Bob has a brother who lives in Douglasville. They are having it bad also. Sounds like you have plenty of food ready.
Stay safe and warm.
I am getting ready to make the pimento cheese spread in just a few minutes. I will take a pic if I do it correctly. Thanks for the recipe.
xoxoGinger
