Do Y'all Remember this Mother's Day Tradition?

Do y'all remember the old Mother's Day tradition of wearing a red rose if your mother is living, and a white rose if she's passed away?

When I was a child, we had a neighbor who grew lovely roses, and always shared them with us on Mother's Day.
We loved wearing them on our Sunday dresses, in honor of our mothers.
Sweet memories of those days.

This is my mom's 1936 high school graduation photo.
It's my favorite picture of her.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom. I miss you.

Wishing each of you a wonderful Mother's Day.

I had not heard of that custom until I moved to the South and then we would wear them at church. Such a sweet way to honor your Mom.
hugs,

What a beautiful photo of your mom. So nice that you have that. And the custom of the roses sounds vaguely familiar to me. We may have done that. Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend.

Babs, I remember that custom well. My Dad was a minister. At our church we would have red and white roses at the entrance, if you wished to wear. We also had a rose ceremony where you could come chose a rose and pin it on your Mom or any other lady who had been a special blessing to you. I miss those days.
Your mother is beautiful, I know you miss her so much. I miss my sweet mother, she died at age 59. Much to soon!
Happy Mother's Day dear friend,
Ginger
