I hope you're having a good weekend.
Hubby and I decided we'd go out early this morning to work in the yard...before it got hot.
While he was getting out the shovel and wheel barrow, I wandered around the pine island, trying to decide where I wanted to move things.
It's sort of like decorating the house. When you move one thing, it starts a chain reaction. Then, you have to find something to fill in the empty spot.
The Sedum Matrona, behind the day lilies, was getting really bunched up, so I took some of it out...
...and planted two Lantanas behind what was left. I hope they'll fill in the bare spots.
After that, I checked around the yard to see if we needed to move anything else.
I stood under the Natchez Crepe Myrtle for a few minutes, trying to decide if the day lilies are in too much shade.
They seem to be blooming well, so I'll leave them there for the summer.
I'm surprised that the violas at the mail box are still doing well. I know they'll die back when it gets really hot, and then I'll have to replace them with some summer annuals.
After that, I took a quick walk around back to see what the new flower beds were doing.
This is one of the four beds we planted before Easter.
The Dianthus (pinks) seem to be doing well, and the volunteer tomato plant in the middle of them will stay.
It'll be fun to see what kind of tomatoes it'll have.
This is a somewhat shady bed with transplanted hostas, ferns and toad lily. As you can see, there's lots of weeding to be done.
Whew!
That bowl of cereal I had for breakfast is long gone. I am sooo hungry.
Time for a shower, then I'm off to the barbecue place to pick up...
...two big pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw.
Hubby and I scarfed them down like we were starving.
They were sooo good!
So much for my exciting Saturday morning.
I think I need a nap after all that barbecue and yard work.

Oh how beautiful your yard is, I love it, so pretty and that sandwich and cole slaw looks fabulous. Have a super weekend.
Babs, your gardens look happy and healthy. It's all that attention you give them!
The pulled pork sandwich looks delicious. Not on my WW diet though. '-)
Isn't it amazing how one thing leads to another, especially when you start moving things around? Everything looks beautiful!
Your beds look so good, my big ones like that I can not keep the weeds out! Wish we would of been done by noon....were pooped! Love your violas!
Your gardens look great Babs! Mine have barely started!
Everything looks great Babs. I love the violas- one of my favorite flowers. They always slow down here once the temps are high. Weds are the scourge- always there ever reminding us that we're not allowed perfection! I just did a post on my garden blog about what I've planted www.sitwithmeinmygarden.com
That sandwich and cole slaw look so yummy!
*weeds not weds!
Your yard looks so pretty, Babs! I haven't planted any flowers yet this year. And that lunch! Yum! :) Have a great Sunday!
Babs, your yard looks great! We have been doing a little planting, as well. Wishing you a great Memorial Day weekend!
You have so many beautiful flower beds in your yard! I can tell you love to garden. That food looks mighty good. I was just telling my husband the other day that we haven't had bbq in a long time.
Hi Babs! Your yard is so lovely and everything looks so green and healthy! It is hard work digging in the dirt! Now that sammich looks so good! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Beautiful home and gardens! So nice! That BBQ looks good!
Babs,
Your Gardens are lovely, dear friend!!!
TODAY, is the day to finish the back deck pots with plants!!! I'll be looking for lantanas to fill my chocolate made in Italy pots!!! Also, we lost all our Dusty Miller with a late frost.
Thanks for sharing your lovely Gardens with us, dear friend!!!
Fondly,
Pat
You have a lovely yard with lots to keep you both busy and entertained!!
I planted a pot of zinnias so I can have some fresh flowers later into the summer!! Your grey Dusty Miller is huge!!
Your flowers are so pretty, especially those violas!
Visiting from Amaze Me Monday.
Have a great day!

Hi Babs, your flower beds look really pretty. Isn't it funny how we keep moving things around.
Your lunch looks soooo good! Makes me hungry!
I'm so envious of your beautiful lawn. We have nothing colorful this year except one bed of gerbera daisies which I planted last year. We've been so busy with some other big projects that I have neglected the lawn completely. Yours looks simply lovely!
I enjoyed the cyber tour of your garden. Hope that nap gave you enough energy to take on the evening. BBQ sandwich and coleslaw makes me hungry just looking at it now.

lovely garden. That is one of the best looking barbeque sandwiches I have seen in a long time.
It's gonna be 93 here today, not looking forward to it.
Happy Wednesday

Everything looks just beautiful! I planted lantana a few years ago and it took over the whole place. I'm sure yours will fill in well. Love your shade bed!
That sounds like our kind of day! Gardening and barbeque - seriously, that's just like us. :)
