What's Happening in My Garden

Hope y'all are having a great weekend.
I was thrilled that we had rain yesterday evening...a LOT of rain! Three and a half inches of rain, and the plants are loving it.

This morning, I walked outside to see how things looked, and to take a few pics to show you.
This is one of the volunteer Cleomes that appeared this year. It's funny, because we haven't had any Cleome for three or four years.

Volunteer tomatoes. I guess the ones on the left are cherry tomatoes, but they're almost as big as ping pong balls.
Don't know what the others are... but they look like one of the heirloom varieties we had last year.

Caladium, Carolyn Whorton...new in the garden, this year. In case you think they look a little haphazard, it's because the bulbs I planted were re-landscaped by the squirrels.
The mystery plant on the left, is probably a weed, but since I don't recognize it, I'll leave it for a bit and see what happens.
Anyone have a clue as what it might be?

A fuzzy visitor on a caladium leaf~

The fig tree is loaded this year. We cut it back drastically this winter, but it's still huge and has more fruit than ever.

Here's the fig bush beside the house, so you can see it's size.
The old crepe myrtles along the drive way, just behind the fig, are higher than our house...probably 30-40 ft. high, and perhaps as many years old.

Sedum and creeping jenny~

I caught a quick pic of Sophie checking out the back garden.
She's hoping to find a chipmunk, or snake, to play with.

Glad you stopped by to see what's happening in our garden.
Happy Sunday.

Wow, the Cleome is so gorgeous. I have never seen one. Your tomatoes are way ahead of ours. One of the great things of summer is to have those freshly picked tomatoes. Sophie is so pretty, love the markings. I wouldn't be too pleased to be gifted with a snake I'll tell ya. :{ Deb

Your garden looks lovely! I used to have Cleomes in my garden here and in Wisconsin. They're gorgeous, but don't smell very nice. LOL!

Babs,
Your Gardens are just gorgeous!!!
I love the photos of the plants following the rain!
Our "resident" squirrel destroyed the daffidol bulbs when we first arrived in our current home, so no bulb plantings here. Your mystery plant will probably "surprise" us all!!!
Sedum and creeping jenny do well here, also!!!
Sophie is a gorgeous feline!!!
Happy Sunday, dear friend!!!
Fondly,
Pat

I love fresh figs right off the tree. My Aunt had a big tree when I was growing up and we always reached as high as we could! Enjoy your afternoon! Hugs, Diane

Happy Sunday, Babs. 3.5" of rain……..that is music to my ears. Wish we cold get some of that here!
Your fresh figs made me think of my mother. She had huge fig trees. Every summer she made fig jam and the tasty fig bars ever.

I can't get over how tall your crepe myrtle is! We have some in our front yard that we prune every year, but not that tall! I've never had a fig tree before. How neat to get fruit right off your tree. I have never heard of a cleome before. It's so unique looking! Looks like more rain is on the way tomorrow too.

We used to have so many Cleome and none of them came up this year. Hopefully they'll come back like yours did!
Blessings,
Cindy
