I LOVE cheese, and one of my favorite things to make for a light lunch or supper, is a cheese board.
Most of the time, I do a mostly savory one, but when I went to the grocery store...
...I saw this delicious looking cheese.
Cheese with candied lemon...yum! I just had to buy it.
The deli cheese section is one of my favorite stops in the store, and I usually come home with at least one new kind to try.
I got out my pizza peel/cheese board...picked some leaves from the fig tree, and gave them a quick wash, to jazz up the board.
If you don't have any fig leaves, hydrangea leaves work well, too.
Another cheese I had on hand was Old Croc...
...and my favorite light cheese, Laughing Cow.
I also added a milder, store brand cheddar, to give four choices.
Rosemary crackers go with the cheddars, Ritz go with the Laughing Cow and the Yorkshire Wensleydale.
Grapes, apple slices and fig preserves are tucked around the cheeses.
If we have a cheese board for a party, I go a little more "gourmet", but it's just the two of us for lunch, so I kept it simple.
It's too hot to "dine alfresco", so I set up our lunch on the coffee table in the family room.
Oh, BTW, the candied lemon cheese is really delicious!
Hope y'all are having a great weekend.

That looks yummy! I love extra sharp cheese. So pretty with your fig leaves. We have neighborhood porch parties and have a similar plate frequently..love it!
ReplyDeleteyou've styled this beautifully. adding the leaves really gives it another dimension visually, AND it looks delicious too!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the sort of lunch we'd like to have on the veranda. I lime the sound of that Yorkshire cheese!
ReplyDeleteLooks YUMMY!! I LOVE cheese!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a perfect meal to me!!!! Yum!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good and perfect for a summer evening. I used to buy small amounts of gourmet cheeses at Fresh Market and serve them with bagel chips. I need to do that again soon! Are we sampling wine, too? heehee!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Babs...you have me drooling! I LOVE cheese and your cheeseboard looks fabulous! Was the lemony cheese at Publix? I need to try it! Thanks so much for linking up at The Scoop!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteAnother cheese lover here! Looks great, and so much better than having to cook!!
ReplyDeleteBabs~ That's my kind of dinner! I would love to try the candied lemon peel cheese. I think that's the brand I've bought before that has cranberries in it too, it's oh so good!
ReplyDeleteThe presentation of your light lunch is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good! I love the idea of the cheese with the candied lemon- the best of both worlds! I love things with lemon! I like how you presented it too with the leaves. My husband would devour all of it! Looks pretty fancy to me!
ReplyDeleteBabs,
ReplyDeleteYuMMy!!!
This looks divinely delicious, dear friend!!!
I don't eat much cheese, but this cheese board is quite enticing!!!
Fondly,
Pat
This is perfect for a light evening meal and looks so pretty too! I want to try that cheese, it sounds delicious!(I love all things lemon!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

Yummy. Just seeing i this makes me hungry :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Babs, and looks delicious too! I love the way you arranged everything on the pizza board. I've wanted to try Wensleydale cheese, but so far, I haven't gotten around to it. You wouldn't believe what a big chicken I am about trying new cheeses. I just can't eat strong flavored cheese, so I don't eat feta, blue cheeses, or goat cheese. I do love mild cheddars, Swiss and Gruyere, provolone, mozz., parmesan, havarti, etc. Is Wensleydale a mild cheese?
ReplyDeleteYour luncheon plate looks pretty, and I'm inspired by your idea. Lunch can get so boring with the same old thing all the time. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!

Yum yum...I love your cheese board spread...what a great idea! Beautiful presentation! Have a wonderful week!Hugs,Poppy
ReplyDeleteI love to do this too! We often eat lightly like this in the evening-especially when it is too hot to turn on the oven! I never met a cheese I did not like-I must look for the one with the lemon in it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cheese too, and your cheese board looks wonderful! I love how you used the fig leaves too, it looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, I love your display on the leaves, very creative. Thanks tons for joining Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDeleteHope to see you there,..Tammy
I love cheese too! I wish I had a fig tree with pretty leaves like yours.
ReplyDeleteCandied lemon cheese sounds heavenly! Hubby and I both love cheese. We always hit the cheese factories when we go N. or S. here in UT. Your board looks lovely. Baked Brie is one of my favs. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I could live off of cheese and crackers and your tray looks YUMMY! Thanks, I'm craving this now! :)
