Quick and Easy Cheese Board Lunch or Supper

Hi, Everyone ~
I LOVE cheese, and one of my favorite things to make for a light lunch or supper, is a cheese board.

Most of the time, I do a mostly savory one, but when I went to the grocery store...

...I saw this delicious looking cheese.

Cheese with candied lemon...yum! I just had to buy it.
The deli cheese section is one of my favorite stops in the store, and I usually come home with at least one new kind to try.

I got out my pizza peel/cheese board...picked some leaves from the fig tree, and gave them a quick wash, to jazz up the board.
If you don't have any fig leaves, hydrangea leaves work well, too.

Another cheese I had on hand was Old Croc...

...and my favorite light cheese, Laughing Cow.
I also added a milder, store brand cheddar, to give four choices.

Rosemary crackers go with the cheddars, Ritz go with the Laughing Cow and the Yorkshire Wensleydale.
Grapes, apple slices and fig preserves are tucked around the cheeses.
If we have a cheese board for a party, I go a little more "gourmet", but it's just the two of us for lunch, so I kept it simple.

It's too hot to "dine alfresco", so I set up our lunch on the coffee table in the family room.
Oh, BTW, the candied lemon cheese is really delicious

Hope y'all are having a great weekend.

  14. This is so pretty, Babs, and looks delicious too! I love the way you arranged everything on the pizza board. I've wanted to try Wensleydale cheese, but so far, I haven't gotten around to it. You wouldn't believe what a big chicken I am about trying new cheeses. I just can't eat strong flavored cheese, so I don't eat feta, blue cheeses, or goat cheese. I do love mild cheddars, Swiss and Gruyere, provolone, mozz., parmesan, havarti, etc. Is Wensleydale a mild cheese?

Your luncheon plate looks pretty, and I'm inspired by your idea. Lunch can get so boring with the same old thing all the time. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!

  16. I love to do this too! We often eat lightly like this in the evening-especially when it is too hot to turn on the oven! I never met a cheese I did not like-I must look for the one with the lemon in it.
