April Garden 2012

It's no surprise that we have early blooms in the yard, considering the mild winter we had.
Here are some views of the yard and garden taken over the last two weeks.

This was taken at Easter...

...here, you can see the roses behind the iris. The first blooms are almost gone now. We're hoping for rain in the next couple of days, and I hope that will make them bloom again.

Hawthorne tree in bloom with Knock Out roses in front.

This looks like a good woodpecker tree. It's across the fence in our neighbor's yard
I'm glad it isn't in ours!
Over the years, we've spent a fortune having huge old trees taken down.
Now, don't be upset...we've always had an arborist decide if they were in decline or dead.

I know y'all have seen a bazillion double Knock Out roses, but I thought this photo was interesting, because it looks like the roses are beaded. Hubby misted them before I took the photo, and it isn't edited to make it look like that...I wouldn't know how to do that anyway.

Here are a few more shots I took today while walking around the yard.

Clematis...I forget the name...oh, it's Inapoticome forgetanamia.
Sorry, pitiful gardening joke...when I can't remember the name of a plant I always call it that.

A "faux" bird house in the far edge of the yard. Since it sits on the plant stand, Hubby closed the opening so birds wouldn't nest in it. Don't want the cats to get the birds.

~Wild mushrooms~

Before you go, let me
show you my favorite rose, which performs well regardless of the weather.

The bush grows 6-8 ft high.

It's a David Austin rose called Teasing Georgia.
You can read more about it HERE.

They have a wonderful fragrance.

Last, here is one of my sedum and succulent pots...

I love it when they fill the pot and look so lush.

Gorgeous flowers! My knockouts haven't started to bloom quite yet- even though we were in the eighties a few weeks ago, we had frost several days last week. Weird weather.... You've inspired me to go and get some sedum to add to my hens and chicks. Yours are so full, Babs. ♥ that container. Sue

Your garden and flowers are lovely, Babs. I'll have to remember the name of your clematis so I know what to call my plants when I can't remember their names. :0)

I just opened my computer for the first time in days...I saw your post on my blogroll and am so glad I came for a visit. Your flowers are just wonderful...my favorite is the yellow David Austin. I have yellow knock out roses but of course there are no blooms yet up here in Ohio. My climatis is just barely beginning to open. I hope all is well with you...have a good rest of the week!

HI Babs-
I love your garden picures! I don't have any knock out roses...That's a great picture with the water beaded on it...looks crystalized!
The David Austin rose looks wonderful- really pretty shade of yellow!
I've got a woodpecker tree...it broke in half one year but we left the 30" tall stump for the birds! It's got tons of holes in it!
I like the birdhouse on the plant stand, how cute!
Clematis won't bloom here for a long time yet..along with the roses! We just got done with forsthia's around here...and because of frosts I didn't get to enjoy my magnolia this year! Boohoo!!
Love your sedum- that's a great arrangement! I wish our weather would settle down so I could enjoy planting! We had another frost last night!!
Love the roses and white iris! So pretty!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful spring garden!

Hi Babs, I delighted in my walk with you through your garden. It's so beautiful now, even though you say it needs rain. I love the first photo with the white Iris, so pretty with the roses in the foreground. I never tire of seeing beautiful roses, your Knock Out Roses are lovely, love the color. Thanks for sharing your tip on misting before the photo, I sure though it has been photoshopped! The clematis is breathtaking. My favorite is your yellow Teasing GA. Some of my roses are fragrance free, that does not make me happy. Nothing like the fragrance of a rose. These are beauties.
I enjoyed my walk in your lovely gardens.

Gorgeous photos! You're definitely farther along that we are but I don't want to wish time away. I so enjoy every new bloom.

I think the clematis might be either Dr. Ruppel or Nelly Moser :)
