In the South, Fall and Winter are sometimes the best seasons for sitting on the deck. Yesterday, I decided to...
...add a little wreath to the bird house on the deck table...then, I put a few pine cones in the bird nest, and added a bowl of cut greens and Nandina berries.
I brought out a plaid throw and some pillows, thinking I'd put my feet up for a few minutes, but then...you know how it is...I started taking photos.
I was surprised to see that it got dark really fast, so I grabbed some candles...
...the "blue hour" at 6:30 pm...who knew?
If you look carefully, you can just see the reindeer pillow on the glider. Ahhh...perfect weather for "gliding".
Thank goodness I remembered to take the throw and pillows in the house last night, because this morning, the weather is damp and dreary...perfect for giving the paperwhites a breath of fresh air.
This year, I used the "5% solution" for growing them, and it really worked...no floppy paperwhites.
Here's the LINK I used to figure out the "solution".
Finally, I added a poinsettia, which was a gift from one of our Christmas party guests. I'll enjoy the plants on the deck today, but will bring them in tonight. The bowl of evergreen cuttings, however, will stay out. They won't mind the cooler weather, which is on the way.
I love decorating the deck, especially since I see it from the kitchen windows.
Do you "deck-orate" yours for Christmas?
Hugs,
Babs

ReplyDeleteBabs,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous deck!!!
We don't do outdoor "decking". . .but I have a plan for after Christmas $ale$ this year for some lighted garland. So~o~o. . .perhaps next year! Your deck is truly inspirational!!! Thanks for your sweet comment and visit...I've been missing you!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Gorgeous Babs! The night shots are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteGirl, our deck is a death trap in winter!!! When the ice and snow fall, you could lose your life out there on that slick rink!!! We don't even decorate it for Christmas with lights or anything because we would have to go out and take them down after!!! And forget about trying to put a tree or something out there! The winds in the Kansas City area rival those off Lake Michigan and around Chicago!!! That tree would end up blown onto YOUR deck!!! :-) :-) :-) Great job on yours!!!! And how nice that you can sit out there in fall and winter! Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteYour deck is rea a FAB.
ReplyDeleteLove the church and the bird's nest is amazingly beautiful.
Happy TTT,
/Chie
Oh my goodness I am so impressed with your paperwhites! They are standing tall indeed. I never got any planted and am going to look up your 5% solution and pin it for next year. Your deck is lovely...now and in every season. My deck is a wreck at the moment!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so sweet! Love the church with it's own wreath and the greens...very nice! The birds nest with pine cones is adorable. I sort of decorated my deck. I put stuff in my window box by the kitchen window and some garland and two small trees on the deck railing. I put a little bird house in the window box with some faux greens. We gotten snow so it looks pretty good right now. I should take some new pictures. I didn't try the solution for the narcissus. I hard about it but didn't follow through. Yours look great!
ReplyDeleteI could have done that last weekend cause we were in the 70's but today got cold and wet, will be in the 30's tonight. Your deck is pretty and the paper whites are gorgeous. My paper whites that are planted in the ground are blooming....Christine
