Isn't that the strangest thing? Y'all know I'm just kidding.
This is my version of a Southern bottle tree.
Not only do the bottles brighten up the garden but, on the lower stakes, they keep me from poking my eye out when I bend over to weed. ;)
Other things that have been popping up are volunteers from last year.

The bottles are a simple and inexpensive way to add interest and color to your garden. Love the idea.
Lovely ideas of the bottles for your garden. I planted geraniums in my watering can and getting ready to do a post on front porch soon too. Still waiting for cushions to be made.
My cousin in Ill. is lining her sidewalk in the backyard with blue bottle stuck in the ground. She doesn't drink - but she has called all her friends and neighbors begging for blue bottles!!

What a great idea! I love how that looks. I'm envious of your huge garden. Ours is small compared to yours and is no longer thriving due to getting too much rain and bad drainage (I guess). Your garden looks like it's doing great!

Your zinnias are looking beautiful, dear friend!!! The resident bunny, "Pee Wee" nibbled ours!!! No zinnias this year!
The Gardens are still lush and green here on the Prairie, but with the arrival of triple digits this week, that may be a thing of the past before long! I have so enjoyed having "green" lawns and gardens, once again!!!
Doubt I'll find any Southern Trees here, but one can always be on the "look~out"!

Every time I see a bottle tree, I'm so drawn to the colors. I just don't want a whole tree. I love your adaptation much better. Good luck finding more bottles!

I love the bottles. What a great idea. I have always wanted a bottle tree but my husband really dislikes them. This gives me a good alternative. I love colored glass in the garden.

Love your version of a bottle tree Babs! Our volunteers as a rule are usually weeds not flowers, lucky you :) We had Cleome once and it reseeded for years. If you're like us you won't need a watering can for watering any time soon but I wouldn't be able to resist buying one at GW!
I think the birds may have deposited a Cleome seed for your gardening pleasure. There is a type of water that is sold in a blue bottle if I am remembering correctly also there is always Skyy Vodka that comes in a pretty blue bottle. If you are not a vodka drinker you might have a friend who is or some one who might visit a pub and ask if they have an empty one.
Very nice. We have a bottle tree in our back yard. I love the way light plays on the bottles.

Babs, the colored glass in the garden is so fun! I have a bottle tree and love it. Great idea to cover your plant stakes. I love things that just pop up unexpectedly. I have had Portulaca, Sun Flowers, and Petunias popping up the last couple of years. Love the added color! Thanks for sharing with SYC. Good luck finding more bottles.
