A Marathon, Harvest Mantel and Getting Organized

Hope y'all had a great weekend.
We were so excited and proud, because our son ran the NYC Marathon today.

This is his ninth marathon, and I always get nervous. You'd think I'd be used to it by now.
So, I worked on the living room mantel this morning, before the race started on TV.

I grabbed an old handmade basket, given to me by a friend, and filled it with leaves, berries and dried okra pods...

...stacked books, shaker boxes, pumpkins and a few antlers...

...added a picture of my Scottish clan badge painted by our son when he was in school, and a pair of pheasants, to finish the mantel.

I'm starting to work on ideas for our Christmas party...less than five weeks away.
I couldn't believe the last few times I went to Hobby Lobby and Michael's.
The stores were packed with customers, and their baskets were filled to the brim. I really need to get organized and decide what I want to do, before the pickins' get slim.

I've gathered a few things on the bed in the guest room, to see what I have that will work on the buffet table, and what I need to buy.
Thank goodness we don't have company coming any time soon.

Take care and have a great week.

It's hard to decide what to purchase. There is so much tucked away in boxes, yet you want something new and different.

You're always welcome at Seasonal Sundays.

I didn't know your son was a runner! He looks VERY fit! I also like the big G he's wearing on his shirt. LOL! I love your Fall mantel decor. The dried okra pods are a nice natural addition.

Tell you son, "Way to go!" That's awesome!

Your mantel is so pretty too. Mine is very simple this year and I'm happy with that.
