Sweet and Easy Tomato Chutney

Here's a yummy tomato chutney recipe that my aunt gave me.
It's so easy to make, and I wanted to share it with you.

Only 8 ingredients are needed:

1 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes...do NOT drain
2 bell peppers, chopped
1 med. onion, chopped
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 Tablespoons catsup
6 drops Tabasco sauce
1 teaspoon black pepper

Mix all the ingredients in a medium to large stainless steel pot, and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 2 hours, or until thickened.
And, you're done!
The recipe makes about 3 cups. Store it in the fridge if you don't use it right away.

For the Super Bowl game,  I'm serving mine with little meat balls...the kind that are frozen and come in a bag. :) Easy Peasy!

The chutney is also good with cheese and crackers, or as an accompaniment to black eyed peas or beans.

Hope you like this recipe. I'd love to know if you make it.

This looks incredibly good, Babs. For a long time I didn't know what chutney was!! Then Maggie from Normandy Life sent me a jar of her very own from France. She is a special lady. It was out of this world!!

Thanks so much for the recipe!!

Jane
