...and finally decided to be creative...I'm using that term loosely. :)
I had the "carrot-shaped" basket and the old faux fern greenery, but bought the deco mesh.
Working with the mesh was a new "skill" for me. I had originally thought I'd like to use orange burlap, but gave that up, thinking the mesh would be more weather resistant, since my door gets lots of sun and rain.
I'm not giving a tutorial, because you'd probably get a good laugh. I wrestled with several layers of mesh, trying to get it to fit the basket, and my hot glue gun melted some of the layers of mesh.
More wrestling, more melted mesh...
... I finally reinforced the back edge, using a big needle and jute twine...added little straight bits of twine on the side, and "roots" on the bottom. After stabbing myself twice with the big needle, it was time out for antiseptic and band-aids.
I hung the carrot on the red front door, to see how it looked, and realized the red and orange color combo wasn't my favorite. Don't know why I didn't think of that before I started this project. Duh!
But, Hubby said it looked great on the red door...bless his heart.
(I may move it to the kitchen door later.)
I forgot to mention that I added the green tulips, because the ferns looked a bit skimpy.
I'm still looking for another door decoration, but I have a feeling I'm a little late...story of my life.

You might be using the term loosely but it looks just like a carrot to me! I'd say it's perfect!!
I really like your cute carrot against the red door, it shows up nicely.
I may "steal" this idea!
Have a great week, Babs.
It looks great, Babs. I never once thought about the door being red until you said so.
I have felt untouched from a Christmas project. I say pat yourself on the back for a cute project, finished and on time!!!!
I like it, Babs, and think it looks fine on your door! Neat idea!!
Babs, it looks great on the red door. This absolutely adorable! You are very clever! The grandsons are going to giggle with delight. Have to say, your "hare" vignette is still my favorite for the season this year. I finally pulled out some bunnies and did a tray scape on the buffet and another on the back entry table. At least I've made a start. ~ Sarah
Oh I just love it! I wouldn't move it. I love how creative it is. I don't think I could've thought to do that with the orange mesh. You even added all the details like the roots and markings on the carrot. So cute!
Oh my gosh, I broke out laughing reading your 'tutorial' - LOL! This is such a cute idea. I have a red door too so will have to think about it :)
How creative, I love it!
Babs, I think it looks great, too. However, I feel your pain (literally!). I cannot seem to do anything creative anymore without making a mess. You are way ahead of me - your project turned out beautifully!!
Adorable! This is such a great idea, thanks for sharing it with us.
That turned out really cute...much cuter than a standard wreath! It looks GOOD! Happy Spring!
Babs,
YOUR Grandboys are going to L O V E this carrot on the FRONT door!!! I'm in agreement with your husband. . ."It lOOks GREAT"!!!(This from the Mother of sons!)
I love the limey green tulips with the fern!!!
EnJOY your time with the Grandboys, dear friend!!!

This is super creative! I would have never thought to make a carrot out of the grapevine cone. Genius! I'd love for you to link this up to our All Things Thursday Blog Hop that will go live tomorrow night at 8pm central time. Hope to see you there!
Blessings,
Nici
You came up with the cutest idea! I love how it turned out and it's just fine on the door. The grands will love it! I know how some projects can go awry but you kept it together and it came out great!
What a darling decoration!
Babs, You are so wonderfully creative with your home decorations!! Can't wait to see what you have for your Grandboys on the inside!
If you change even one thing about this, I will personally hop in my car, drive to your state, hunt you down with a drone, and then take you out back and beat the livin' daylights outta you!!! Babs!!! This is TERRIFIC!!! This borders on GENIUS, woman!!! You did a fantastic job, and it looks great against the red door!!! Oh, my gosh! You even went so far as to add the roots and all...this is fabulous!!!!! I'm pinning this bad boy! I think you just gave a whole lotta folks a great project to work on for the Easter season!!!
Thanks for giving your literal blood, sweat and tears to share this with all of us! Good goin', girlfriend!!!
I love this door decoration AND your story!!!! The color combination is perfect and those tulips add just the right touch. Thanks for sharing how
you made it! (Sorry about that.)
That's a great way to use the mesh! You are right...it is more weather resistant than burlap. It looks adorable...I hope that your grandchildren enjoyed it too! You are a good grandmother to think about making the house kid friendly and fun for them.
Babs, Just wanted you to know I'll be featuring you this week at Simple & Sweet Fridays. Thanks so much for sharing this post. I love your Carrot Wreath!!
Hugs,
Jody
