Spring is Here, and I'm Already Sunburned

We've been working like crazy in the yard the last few days.
Here in Georgia, there's always a small window of time for getting things planted, before it's hot as blazes.
It's been in the 80s for a couple of days, and the A/C has already kicked in a couple of times. I got sunburned yesterday...wasn't even thinking about sunscreen.
Here's what's been going on in the yard...

...Hostas are coming up.

Our dogwoods are almost in full bloom.

Ferns are emerging.

The early azaleas are blooming. Can you see the pollen on the leaves? The pollen count today was 2722...Yikes!

Yesterday, I planted four planters of mixed violas, bacopa, butter daisies and million bells. I stuffed the thrift store frog planter with a few left over violas.

In the garden, one of my favorites...an old crusty urn, holds a pot of speedwell.

Today, we planted a mixed sedum garden in the "Y" of the front walkway.
I'll try to get a good picture for you when everything fills in. Right now, it looks OK, but in the photos I took, it looks like a mess.
We also planted Stella D' Oro day lilies, to replace the verbena that I gave up on last year.

It was really nice this afternoon, so I moved the frog planter...

...to the deck coffee table.

As soon as the sun goes down a little more, I think I'll put my feet up and have a glass of something cool and refreshing. Come on over and join me...don't mind the dirt on my garden shoes. :)

Hope y'all have a great weekend.

Oh...you lucky girl!! Bad about the sunburn though. I don't like putting stuff on my skin...I'm super sensitive so I usually wear a baseball cap or brimmed hat. Keeps your color from fading, too!

I love the flowers in the frog! How charming! I really envy you. 80's are just perfect for getting outdoors. Yes, I'd love to pop over for a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio!

XO,
Jane

Looking real good Babs!! I can't wait to get outside and start planting! It's been in the 60's the last few days here...loving it!

Babs, it's like that here too. Already hitting the 80s and the AC is on. Think we skipped spring?
Thanks for reminding me about the day lilies. I want to plant some of that variety. My iris are blooming and the poppies and larkspur are thinking about it.
Feels good to get back i n the dirt! ;-)

Oh wow! Your garden is really waking up from winter, mine's just starting to open it's eyes! Our daffodils jumped up early but everything else is slow growing...
Blessings,
Cindy

Everything looks wonderful and springy, and boy do we need it this year! I got a little sunburn on my shoulders outside this week too. It was my first peep outside for weeks since we've been at my mother's house taking care of her. I didn't think I would be outside long enough for a sunburn, but I did.

It has already faded to my signature color of bland beige, though.

Babs, the garden looks fabulous. I'm here in Houston and it's been getting warmer and warmer! I guess I will miss out on the early planting this year. Just knowing next year I won't have to travel to Houston will be a blessing. My Mom will be in Georgia with me!!
hugs,
Linda

Lucky you to get to spend the day planting flowers! Looks like you've got a lot of pretty ones already in bloom too. Your hosta's and azaelas are ahead of mine. I got sunburned a bit yesterday too. We took a drive up to Helen, GA and walked around. Loving this weather!!

The 80s!!! Just you hush!!!!!! We were out cleaning our cars out today in sweaters and sweatpants! The blooms that bravely came out on my magnolia are browning up thanks to the nights still dipping below the freezing mark. Aaarrrggghhhhh!!!!!

I'm thinking of planting a bunch of Stella d'Oro this year. We'll keep in touch on we're doing! I'm not that good at getting perennials to cooperate, so who knows...mine may be dead as doornails within a month! I'm also going to plant some sedum. They say you have to try REALLY hard to kill that, so maybe it will survive me! :-)

Everything is looking great there! Can't wait to see my own hostas looking green and pretty like that!

Sorry to hear of your sunburn but it almost seems a little fun to get one at this time of the year. Things are still very brown here, but your photos give me hope.

Great to have you at Seasonal Sundays.
