But, I decided I wanted a spookier look in the foyer, so I've moved the wreath to the kitchen door. It works better there, with the somewhat vintage vibe of the hutch.
And now, welcome to my Spooky Southern Foyer...
Please step carefully. You never know what might be lurking under the aging lace on the foyer chest.
Above the mirror, you'll see rare and exotic Black Magnolia leaves and Spanish moss, hanging from a black gnarled branch.
Our faithful, ever watchful crow...
... guards a small black casket on a silver tray (actually, it's a little antique snuff box)...
He's so vain...he loves to admire himself in the mirror..and he probably thinks this song is about him...
Oh, sorry, I couldn't help myself.
Look inside the casket...
...blood red Black Magnolia seeds!...extremely rare, because they only germinate on the first full moon in October (not really).
Perhaps you'd like to read a book before retiring for the night...hmm, I think the book ends look like tombstones.
For your reading pleasure, may I recommend Who Killed Aunt Maggie?, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil...or perhaps, Black Heart?
One of these skeleton keys will open a door at the top of the stairs. I hope you'll find your room suitable. ;)
...you retire upstairs. Sleep well...:) Wha-ha-haaa.

Creepy Babs, very creepy and lots of fun:)
Babs, this truly shows how much fun you had putting this all together. I love it! And you know I'm not into to scary decor. But this, this is classic! Now you have me thinking about pulling out my little English snuff boxes. LOL
Thanks for sharing the magic!........Sarah
Babs,
How intriquing, dear friend!!!
Spooky Southern Hospitality at it's finest! Perhaps the skeleton key I chose will open the room to the remaing Kit Kats??? One can always hope! Ha! Lovely, whimsical Halloween decor!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Babs, this is so much fun and so scary elegant!!!! I don't do much for Halloween but I many copy cat this post. I didn't know it but I already have everything here (only problem would be finding it all). Thanks for pointing this out. I'm sure all your guests will enjoy this, and you'll have to leave the door open Halloween so all the little spooks can see. I love it........

Hi Babs! Ooooh, I'm scared but in an elegant sort of way! It looks wonderful.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia;)
I love your spooky foyer with a little southern style added to it! Your story telling was the perfect touch to your creative vignette! I bet all the trick or treaters will want to come inside for a little "visit" on Halloween!
Babs your entry looks SPOOKTACULAR!! Love your alabaster lamp!
Ooh! Love it!! Love the little casket! What a fun and elegant creation you've made!!
You certainly had fun with this post Babs. Loved the black magnolia leaves and seeds in the casket, your readin material and the lace tablecloth.
Great Halloween fun!! Love your post, especially the book titles!

Everything looks great, I love the mirror frame on the table and the crows. The table lamp is a beauty.

Oh Babs I am cracking up! I think this is fabulous. My favorite thing is the casket on the silver tray...or maybe the crow. I'm not sure! Very fun post...I'm so glad I stopped by. Hope you are well and enjoying Georgia's cooler temps. Before we know it this year will be over. Have a good week!
Hi Babs, what an awesome job you did on decorating. The mirror is lovely, if black can be lovely. The faithful crow, the blood red Magnolia seeds in the casket are wonderful additions. Scary, not sure if I want to sleep in this house. I see you visited Liz from www.infusewithliz.com I created her header. Have a great week!
This is really, really cool, Babs! You really put a lot of thought into this! SO unique!!! It all has a very "Gone With the Wind" meets Alfred Hitchock vibe to it! The Spanish moss really adds not only texture but a TON of character to the vignette! Great call on the black magnolia leaves, too! Those bookends DO resemble a headstone. Weird!!! You did a really fantastic job with this! Too bad it can only stick around for a couple of weeks! It's REALLY cool!!!
Babs, thank you for your sweet comment about the fall cloche....your blog is terrific!
Baba, you have thoroughly entertained me with your post! I will have to say that I've never seen magnolia leaves painted black but they are just perfect in your spooky vignette!
Stunning spooky vignette dear Babs! the black magnolia leaves, hahahahaaaa...love the lighting you used in the pics too and the cute little casket, just awesome! Yes, black bird is vain and I'm sure he thinks this song is about him, lol...couldn't help it either..heheheheeee
Big hugs,
FABBY
I just love the detail in this! You thought of everything, and it looks like a corner of a haunted mansion. I love the black magnolia leaves the best. I would never in a million years have thought of that. I love it.
You make creepy look pretty chic! I think your spooky vignette is quite dramatic and sorta glam!
Babs~ I love your spooky foyer! The black magnolia leaves and your blood red seeds in their casket are such a fun & creepy touch! Love your skeleton :) keys and your scary book selection!
