Usually, I make it with peaches or strawberries, but this time, I used blue berries...one of his favorite fruits.
This is an easy-peasy recipe that's been around for a long time.
Some of y'all have probably made it before. But, just in case you haven't, here's the recipe:
Easy Fruit Cobbler
2 cups fruit ~ any kind. It can be canned peaches, or any frozen or fresh fruit of your choice.
1 cup self rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 deg. Melt butter in a 9x9 baking dish.
Mix the flour, sugar and milk together, and pour into the baking dish over the melted butter.
Sprinkle the fruit over the top. Do not stir.
Bake for about 1 hour, or until golden brown.
Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
Note: If you're like me, and want a big pan of cobbler, just double the ingredients and use a 9x13 pan.
Since I'm joining Kathryn@The Dedicated House for Anything Blue Friday, here are a couple of other blue things around the house.
I'm so thrilled to have some hydrangea blooms to cut this year, that I put them in a big pitcher on my bedside table...so I can see them when I go to bed and when I wake up. :)
I also added a few Baptisia pods and leaves. The Baptisia flowers were finished a few weeks ago, but I think the pods are pretty too, and like to add them to arrangements.
One other blue is in the guest bath.
Here's a blue dish holding one of the guest soaps that I received in the goodie bag at the bloggers brunch, and a blue vintage vase, with gardenias from the front yard.
This is one of the gardenia bushes by the front door; and it wasn't even fully in bloom when I took the pic.
It was so full of blooms this year, some of the branches were on the ground.
We have an even larger one in the back yard, so everywhere you walk, you get that lovely gardenia fragrance. I'm lovin' it.
Sorry, I know I'm bragging, but we've had such bad growing conditions for a couple of years, this year our yard looks so much better. Yay!
Hope y'all have a great weekend, and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.
Hugs,
Babs

Yummy, we love blueberries. I really need to go pick some at the farm up the road-just need to make time.
There's nothing prettier than fresh flowers and you've made such pretty arrangements. I love hydrangeas...they're my favorite flower! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs!
The cobbler sounds delicious and the flowers are fabulous. I love how full of blooms the gardenia bush looks. Amazing. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
Babs,
This cobbler recipe sounds perfect for "Mr. Ed's" upcoming Blackberry Cobbler request!!!
Gorgeous blooms and blue!!!
Have a wonderful weekend, der friend!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I would love to have a gardenia bush live for me.
My cobbler would never look as mouth watering as yours, but I will make one anyway.
I think I would like blueberry best too. Yum! I never thought to use Baptisia pods. Good idea.
So many lovely blues in this post, but OMG it's the gardenia bush that has my heart skipping beats. I can't even get a tiny potted gardenia to grow much less bloom, and just look at this huge shrub laden with fragrant blooms. Amazing!
I love any kind of cobbler and blueberry would rank very high up on the list! Your hydrangeas are the most lovely color...mine are just opening. I may be able to cut some this week. I can just imagine how good that gardenia smells. Little piece of heaven!
Hi Babs....hope you and the hubby had a great weekend....don't you love having hydrangeas in a big vase in the house....I have so many I bring in new ones every other day.....ofcourse I have bad luck with keeping them looking alive....I wrote about it on my latest post....I'm such an idiot....it doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize....fresh flowers and hot candles do not mix...have a great week!
I am going to make that cobbler!!! I've been wanting an easy recipe for something like that. I will probably use peaches. Thanks for sharing the recipe. It looks delicious! Your flowers look so pretty. We have some gardenia bushes beside our driveway and I just love the smell! I've noticed that our flowers are doing better this year too. I wonder if it was because we had a mild winter. We had some things not bloom last summer, but this year, everything has including some that we thought were a gonner! Whatever it is, I hope it continues!
Babs, That cobbler sounds delish! Making this tomorrow.
Love the gardenias, their fragrance is like heaven. Having more rain this year has really made a difference. Love your, hydrangeas.
