Out and About

Hi, Everyone ~

I hope you don't mind my bragging a little.
Last night Mr. UD and I went to a stage tour for a sneak peek behind the scenes of Gainesville Theatre Alliance's production of  Lombardi, a Tony Award-winning play about the life and times of  Hall of Fame football coach, Vince Lombardi.

Lombardi will be coming to the Sylvia Beard Theatre, in our new community center...
Buford Community Center Town Park and Theater... Click HERE
to read more about it.
Buford, GA is my home town, and I can't tell you how thrilled we are to have this gorgeous new facility.

We've been to several events here, and I'm still amazed at how beautiful it is. This is the entry on the second level.

Back to the event from last night.

Here are a couple of photos of a scene from the play, which can be seen Aug. 16-25.

This is a rehearsal scene with the actors portraying Vince Lombardi and his wife, Marie.  The actors who portray them, are actually husband and wife in real life.

Here, the "football players" are discussing things which they discovered about Vince Lombardi, while rehearsing for the play.

If you live in the Atlanta area, and would enjoy seeing "world class theater in your own back yard", check out this link.

While I'm still bragging, here are a few more photos of BCC... Buford Community Center.

Amphitheater...free concerts and movies are here in the summer.

While you're visiting BCC, don't forget to check out The Museum of Buford, on the ground floor of the center.

Thanks so much for going "out and about" with me, and letting me brag about my hometown.

I totally understand your desire to brag! I would love to see this show. I saw something about it on a talk show when it opened on Broadway. My husband isn't one for "the arts" but I think he would like this. Thank you for sharing!

Gosh that is just such an elegant place. I wish we had one around here. Buford is by the Mall of GA I think. That area is really growing over there. Love, sandie

Good Afternoon Babs, This is such a lovely theatre and I love the Amphitheatre. When I lived in Cyprus we had an open air amphitheatre as it was far too hot to sit inside. There is nothing like watching a show underneath the stars.
This is such a bonus to your community and it will be enjoyed by everyone.
Best Wishes to you,
Daphne

You have every reason to brag!! (you have a great camera!!) what a magnificent building!! I can see that the Buford Community Center will get a lot of use!! Wonderful that you have that. Especially like your Amphitheater for free concerts!! I'm from St. Augustine Fla. and when I was home visiting Mom- they were having a concert almost every weekend!! They had The Monkeys, Carly Simon, Victoria Justice, steely Dan, Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck, John fogerty and the list goes on!! We need a nice Amphitheater on this side of town too!!

Babs, This is so incredible. I didn't know you lived in Buford. I had family that lived in Buford when I was a little girl. My grandparents and an aunt lived there. I remember riding the train to and fro from Atlanta.
My aunt's husband farmed and I remember going with them to a place where my momma, grandmother and aunt would prepare the vegetables. The place we went would process the vegetables in cans. I remember them being so excited because it was more foolproof than home canning.
Those dear ladies are gone now and they would be amazed that Buford is so Uptown.
Thank you for sharing that beautiful center. It is breathtaking and what an amphitheater. I am so proud of the beauty there now. I know I wouldn't recognize anything.
Thanks again, Ginger
